Dave Sim Needs YOUR Help!

SANDEEP ATWAL:
(from Cerebus Facebook Group, 21 August 2015)
So... who is interested in working with Dave Sim on a special project that will take up the next two years? It doesn't pay, will be a lot of work, people will probably call you a misogynist and chances are at the end, nobody will care. Interested? Email -- sandeep.s.atwal [at] gmail [dot] com -- or message me for more details!!!

And once again the misogynist term is being used as a badge. Idiotic to the core. If Dave truly believes the decades old accusations against him are untrue. He should insist that his friends and colleagues not use the term as an advertisement, or bandy it about so casually.

Hi Michael,
It's a nice thought: If no one mentions the 'misogynist thing' it will go away. Unfortunately, it is still a widely repeated view of Dave Sim without any encouragement from him. Just take a look at what people say on Twitter or Google 'Dave Sim' -- the second link listed is to here: http://www.theabsolute.net/misogyny/sim.html. In practically every Cerebus reviews, the 'misogyny thing' gets referred to pretty early on. It's a shame that many insist on labeling a person in this way. Even if the disagree with Dave's politics and/or views on gender, by not reading Cerebus they're are missing out on some top-notch comics. Their loss really...

Tim is right. We can pretend people don't think Dave is a crazy misogynist. About 30 seconds on Google will dispel that myth. I see it almost every single day. Let's not ignore the elephant in the room.

BTW, thanks for the post, Tim!

Mr. Atwal's Facebook quote would have been just as effective and functional without the unnecessary reference to misogyny. Just because the elephant is in the room doesn't mean you have to lower yourself to it's level and wallow in its shit.

So what is the nature of this project? Also where's that sketch from?

Why don't you (as in all) do, what the USA Gov did with the term TORTURE...

Just change the definition of "misogynist" to mean something else... like:

"I know what you are, but what am I?"

or

"Speaking your mind, absent of hate."

or

"Fruit Basket"

or

"Talented Person."

etc...

etc...

I must respectfully decline. I have my own work to do and I have at least three more books that will be coming out from 2016 to 2018.

As always, I'm "all in" (as they say in certain gaming circles) for helping Dave on any project (to the best of my abilities). But, while I was a bit taken aback by Sandeep's comment that if you help, you might be labeled the m-word, don't you think that we all should wait and see what (exactly) this project entails?

My two-cents'-worth, FWIW.

I've been called a misogynist for longer than Mr. Sim has been, and before that, a "chauvinist" (one of those words like "prodigal" that everyone thinks they know the meaning of, and then are surprised when they check the dictionary!). At this point, it's no badge, just a sarcastic recognition of the sure and certain knowledge that that's what you'll be called if you say anything remotely critical, however constructively, about the currently trendy female supremacist hate orthodoxy.
