What's really funny here is neither one of you had to look up ANY of those canine comicbook factoids!

Did you? DID you???

I knew ROUGHLY when Ace the Bat-Hound first appeared and that it was BATMAN and not DETECTIVE. But I admit to being surprised to find out that Krypto first appeared in JIMMY OLSEN. I thought it was SUPERBOY. I was unconsciously thinking of the first appearance of Bizarro which I know is SUPERBOY No.68.

Sandeep gets a real laugh out of reading all the first appearances in the OVERSTREET GUIDE. And a bigger laugh out of all the ones I know off by heart.

And I DID think after I had it mocked up, I should've included the name ACE instead of just calling him Bat-Hound. It seemed, I don't know, disrespectful.

I DO get a big laugh out of it! As far as I can tell, he knows all of it by heart and just uses the OVERSTREET GUIDE as a paperweight. I haven't seen him look up anything in it yet!

It's comedy gold that keeps on giving. It's funny for people who know the actual books and funnier for people who never really think that there are people in the world who actually know this stuff.

Anytime I'm stuck for a strip idea, it's well worth flipping through my ROBERT M. volume.

Sandeep. As you can see I missed your 6 pm call. Try me at 7 if you're near your phone.

For me, the funniest strip of the day! 'Cause hounds really *do*...um...hound you, no matter what the topic of the day is.

It's why I sometimes call my cat "Puppy Dog".

Great stuff, guys! It must have been so much fun looking through all those plates for just the right ones!

I love this one! And you never know, Cerebus could always meet up with a canine companion in the upcoming mini-series. :)

Jesus, is the whole thing going to be so full of comic book "inside baseball?" I'm going to get maybe 5% of the jokes and references if it is…!

More Nietzche, please. And I bet it wouldn't be too hard to find Sartre, either...

Drew! There are only two plates with "Jingles" on them, but they'll be getting a good workout.

Hi Tony! I think that's a big part of the Infernal Realms as well: inside jokes that you don't get. You don't REALLY think that Sartre is in HELL do you? That's a problem that came up early: uh, who am I to say that Paul Newman is in Hell (or Hell?)? So the Paul Newman strip keeps moving to the bottom of the pile.

Well, I'm not too familiar with Sartre; all I know is every time I've tried to read him, I soon found myself bored to the point of physical pain. I figure that's worth at least a little time in purgatorio

For all the comic book-geek that I am and hope I will always will be, I have no idea when Krypto first appeared. Well, I didn't until this strip, but I'm not, you know, memorizing it for future reference. That would just be wrong. Rin Tin Tin, Rex the Wonder Dog, know little, care less. Now Ace the Bathound should be called "Ace" because it's his proper name and that's just respectful of the... Hound of Heroes or whatever his catchphrase is.

This strip is my favorite so far.

And by the way, Cerebus had a dog companion not once, but twice, in "Latter Days." This error destroys the whole story for me, and as Maude would say (who I always turn to for spiritual advice,) "Dog will get you for that."
