The Truth Is Out There... par avion. (Dave's Weekly Update #219)

Hi, Everybody!

(I hope I'm not "telling tales out of school," but apparently Dave Fisher is in New Zealand returning the One Ring to the fires of Mount Doom. He told me he has to hike an hour, one way, to post the weekly update, in the scorching summer heat. So from all of us, Thank You Mr. Fisher! Hopefully he'll be back into the frigid cold next week. Anyway,)

Heeeeeere's Dave:

Dave, my vote is yes on the X-Files bonus print, but only if you charge for it.

That sneeze. LMFAO.

That would be a great bonus print! I think any of those IDW covers would make fun bonuses.

Very strange to hear oneself mentioned by Dave himself in the weekly update!

I thought I'd wait a couple of days before posting here so I could collect the package from my local post office.

I am SO appreciative, and not a little humbled, by this.
All of the IDW covers are signed, bagged and boarded by Dave himself (as he said they would be), but the FULL SIZE scan of the original artwork for the X Files annual is magnificent, and also signed and personalised.

Also that bonus print is gorgeous, and definitely getting framed and going on the wall.

I really can't think what I have done to deserve this, but I am most grateful.

Funny thing was, I just lucked on that 'crazy Deal of the day' as it had already gone once.
As I remember numbers 9 and 10 were also released when this one became available, so I can only assume the person who pledged for this one (no.8) managed to get a later one (was he like, hovering over the Kickstarter website 24 hours a day?), and so had to relinquish the first.

I have often read on this site about about Dave's kindness and generosity to comic professionals and 'fans' (for want of a better word).
This seems to me as fine an example as any.

Also, the Gillian Anderson illustration is even more impressive in the original art.
Dave has totally 'caught' her look, with a real economy of line.
A very clever and skilful work in my humble opinion.

And there are 4 Judge Dredd covers in the IDW issues.
This takes me back because I was a big Judge Dredd and 2000 AD fan back in the day...
So Dave Sim drew Judge Dredd? Who knew?
Now I'm like, wondering, did he ever read a Judge Dredd comic? Must have done, at least for research purposes, I presume.

So, this has all been a bit emotional.
I'm going to have a bit of a lie down, ha ha.

Thank you so much Dave Sim.
I salute you Sir.
