Travis sez: This guy again.  From what I understand, the cover shown here is not the cover being used for the issue.  FYI

LODGER #1
(W) David Lapham, Maria Lapham (A/CA) David Lapham
A handsome drifter murders his way through the midwest while hiding in plain sight as a travel blogger, leaving families in shreds and body bags in his wake. Ricky Toledo was fifteen when she fell hard for "Dante"-until he killed her mother and got her father sent to prison for it. It's three years later, and Ricky will stop at nothing to get revenge. Lodger is a dark, grimy, psychological thriller-a game of cat and mouse between a broken young woman and a serial killer-and like all the best crime noir... a twisted love story.

A new series from Eisner Award winners David and Maria Lapham!
BLACK CROWN'S first black and white miniseries!
Don't miss a special variant cover by Bill Sienkiewicz!

STRAY BULLETS SUNSHINE & ROSES #39 (MR)
(W) David Lapham (A/CA) David Lapham
An ill-advised phone call may spell the end for Beth and Orson. Their only hope might be an in an urgent message... from an imaginary character.

Travis sez: David and Maria Lapham do a miniseries at IDW/Black Crown about crime, their forte.  Over at Image the long running Stray Bullets continues as well.  It's a black and white massacre!

EDGAR ALLAN POE`S SNIFTER OF TERROR #1
(W) Tom Peyer, Mark Russell, Cienna Madrid (A) Fred Harper, Peter Snejbjerg, Carly Wright, Shannon Wheeler, Hunt Emerson (CA) Richard Williams
Edgar Allan Poe mangles classic tales and brand new stories in this cross between Drunk History and Tales from the Crypt! First, meet AHOY's own alcohol-damaged version of Poe in "The Facts in The Case of M. Valdemar," adapted by Tom Peyer (Batman '66) and drawn by Fred Harper. Then: Sugary cereal meets vampirism in "Dark Chocolate," by writer Mark Russell (The Flintstones) and artist Peter Snejbjerg (Starman). EXTRA! Comics by Hunt Emerson, unsettling verse by Cienna Madrid illustrated by Carly Wright, and a cartoon by Shannon Wheeler!

CAPTAIN GINGER #1
(W) Stuart Moore, Grant Morrison (A) Phil Hester, Shannon Wheeler (A/CA) June Brigman, Roy Richardson
When the human race died out, the cats inherited the Earth! Or at least one starship. Now the intrepid Captain Ginger struggles to keep his fellow felines united against a hostile universe. Thirty-five pages of comic adventure-with a bite-by writer Stuart Moore (Deadpool the Duck, Batman: Noir Alley) and artist June Brigman (Power Pack). Plus: An all-new text story by comics legend Grant Morrison, "The Electric Sky Bear That Inspired Ben Franklin," illustrated by Phil Hester, and a cartoon by Shannon Wheeler!

Travis sez: Ahoy Comics gives us another couple of number one issues (as well as continuing High Heaven and The Wrong Earth).  The Poe one is a take on the horror comics of yore, with a drunken Poe narrating, and Captain Ginger is a sci-fi tale of CATS IN SPACE!  Shannon Wheeler appears in these books as well.

CARSON OF VENUS #1 PIRATES OF VENUS
(W) Len Wein (A/CA) Michael William Kaluta
Over four decades ago, comic legends Michael Kaluta and Len Wein developed an adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel, Pirates of Venus for DC Comics.  These vibrant stories were serialized as backup features in Korak Son of Tarzan. American Mythology is proud to present a remastered edition of this incredible work as a primer to the upcoming new Carson of Venus series launching next month!  Find out everything you need to know about the character and the vibrant storytelling of Edgar Rice Burroughs right here then join us for the trip to Venus next month!  Carson of Venus #1 Pirates of Venus comes with two covers - Main and Limited-Edition B&W Cover by living legend Michael Kaluta,

Travis sez: A reprint of some old DC Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations, by Len Wein with art by Michael Kaluta.  Sounds cool.
SIMPSONS COMICS #245
(W) Nathan Kane (A) Rex Lindsey (CA) Jason Ho, Nathan Kane
It's a Simpsons Comics send off! Join Bongo for the final issue of Simpsons Comics in a series finale that's been 25 years in the making! When Lisa brings home a lovable new pet from All Creatures Great and Small and Cheap, it seems like the perfect gift. But this new addition to the family turns out to be much more than anyone could have expected, and soon Springfield itself is in danger. Only one person can save the town from total disaster, but they're too busy taking a nap! It's a tale of twists, turns, irradiated missteps, and surprise cameos that will have your head spinning, bosom heaving, and wallet screaming to be emptied! A heartfelt series farewell from your pals at Bongo. We hate to say goodbye, so let's just leave it at "Smell ya later!"

Travis sez: Simpsons Comics ends at #245, probably because they're scared to eventually outdo Dave's 300 issues!  Or not....

PEEK #2 THE SECOND (MR)
(W) Jason Yungbluth (A) Stephen Notley, Jacob Chabot, Jimmy Giegerich (A/CA) Jason Yungbluth
Join the all-seeing Peeker as the worst garbage of the 1980s enjoys one last day in the sun before being put out on the curb! Transforming robots and Real American Heroes that time and Robot Chicken forgot are warped by Jason Yungbluth's trademark perversity, with help form Stephen Notley (Bob the Angry Flower), Jacob Chabot (Mad magazine) and Jimmy Giegerich (Executioner and Friend). Peek: you can't regret it until you've read it!

Travis sez: Jason Yungbluth did the great Weapon Brown, a riff on classic comic strips and '90s comics, and here's the second issue of his twisted humor comic.  He's also joined by Stephen Notley of Bob the Angry Flower fame, which was featured in Cerebus issues for awhile!

Next Time: Aqualung! Just Kidding, Dave and Religion.

Probably not the best place to ask, but is it true that Dave Sim is helping write Ethan Van Sciver’s “Cyberfrog”? That’s pretty great if true.

Bob O,

Yep.

Ethan Van Sciver talks about it here:

I'm sure Dave will have something to say about this soon.

(And Matt? If you want to post this as a main post, I'm sure no one will complain.)
