Cerebus Around the World and Web #44 by Oliver Simonsen

Hi, Everybody!

Cerebus masks and whatnots with all the money going to Dave. New product will be added to the store this weekend if I get around to it. Also, they let me know that:
Your entire store will be on sale:
Sep 5 – 7
Sep 16 – 18
Sep 28 – 30
Everything but tees will be on sale:
Sep 10 – 12
Sep 22 – 24
Tell your fans! Remind them that everything but tees will be up to 35% off! That means $20 phone cases, $15 totes, $7 art prints, and way more.
Okay "fans" I've done told you.

The latest Cerebus in Hell? one-shot: Spider-Whore available to order wherever those kinds of things are sold.

The Amicable Spider-Vark is in stores, which is the lead in to Spider-Whore, which was SUPPOSED to be the immediate sequel, but Batvark: PENIS ended up taking Spider-Whore's slot when COVID-19 threw everything up into the air.

If you missed the Kickstarter for Dave and Carson Grubaugh's You Don't Know Jack, there's an Indiegogo, which is still up and running, LIMITED numbers of The Strange Death of Alex Raymond are available through there if you want one and didn't order a Fundraising Edition back when I posted a link to how to get one damn near every day for weeks if not months...

If you missed the Waverly Press Kickstarter for the Remastered Cerebus #1, limited overflow of the rewards are available at cerebusoverload.com.

And Signed copies of Vark Wars: Walt's Empire Strikes Back (Signed by Dave, Signed by Dave and me, Signed by me after I scribble out Dave's name, Pretty much available Signed only...)

Margaret Liss: Dave's essay "Why An Aardvark" ran in Cerebus #200, 201, 204, and 205. There was supposed to be a "final chapter" according to part 4, but as far as I can tell it was never printed. If you haven't read them 'cause "phonebooks" or it has been a while and you don't feel like digging through your boxes o'Cerebus comics:, lucky you. They are all posted to my website:

Cerebus TV! today!
John Glisman: “The Making of 104”? This is in the back of Cerebus #105 (December 1987). In my years of reading/collecting Cerebus and related stuff, this has eluded me. Sounds like it would be pretty interesting: a video of Dave, Gerhard, and Bob Burden all at the top of their game. Of course I wasn’t at the Mid-Ohio Con in 1987. I did a quick check of Youtube- not there. Has anyone out there ever seen this

Threefiftyseven: I was thinking about Cerebus last night while watching the "last" of the Marvel movies, Endgame. I was reminded of Dave writing about how he had introduced something to the storyline which could, in effect, end the storyline, and for some reason I remember that as Fred and Ethel, though I may be mis-remembering.
Nothing more than that.

Looks like we all got our SDOAR vol. I about the same time. I've read it once, and am now reading it again, this time one "issue" at a time.
It's pretty much what I'd been hoping for/expecting; not an easy read, a little hard to follow at first glance; but then that was always true of Cerebus and I'm one who appreciates having to put in a little effort.
Also like Cerebus, I'm gaining insight from a second read-through that I missed the first time; partly because Dave is using techniques earlier on that he won't actually explain/describe until a few pages later; the second time through, then, I can see what he's up to.
Anyway: I could probably ramble on some more, but I'll stop with CAN'T WAIT FOR VOLUME II.

Well gee whiz, Dave didn't put a special comment in my copy of SDOAR like he did for others...guess I just don't rate.

But then, Carson did, so I'm good now.

Hi Steve. Dave wrote a personalized message based on the list I sent him of people who purchased a copy who had asked for one.
Some people had specified they didn’t want a message, so I went with no message by default, unless specifically asked for.

I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones who hasn't received their copies yet. Sigh. Maybe Tuesday. All good things come to those who wait. And wait. LOL.

Eddie -

I'd forgotten about that!

And as always, thanks for keeping this train rolling along -

Michael? Blame the USPS guy in charge, who bribed his way into the office and who will probably go to jail or, more likely, get pardoned.

I swear, on your Bible, back in December of 2016, I said to my sister (a Trump supporter, but not rabidly so), "This may well turn out to be THE most corrupt Presidential administration, ever."

I wish I didn't know now what I barely knew then.
