So Matt...what'd ya get for your birthday?

Hi, Everybody!

So six days ago I turned 45.

And I got a Hulk blanket from my family (we've just downsized our living arrangement, and I'm old. So not getting a lot isn't a problem for me. Plus, I got friends...). Not really Cerebus related I know (but, again, I got friends...)

But my FRIENDS got me stuff.

James Windsor Banderas-Smith sent me my copy of Papa Balloon and Cactus #4, with the Dave Sim Idyl inspired cover:
He also sent a copy of the regular cover by Richard Friend as a "sorry for the printing delay"

He also included a copy of Comicverse: Behind the Counter #2 which I already had, so that's gonna end up in the AMOC Prize Pile (it's spilled out beyond it's original "box" borders.) SPEAKING OF WHICH:
Friend to the Blog Steve Peters has a NEW Kickstarter: Comicverse: Subspace Chatter Softcover Collection. While it DOESN'T have a new Dave cover (that's the NEXT Kickstarter after this one...) It does have Cerebus related content, and Manly Matt Dow Art.
AND, you can get a copy of Behind the Counter #2 as part of the $85 Complete collection option. (Which is probably a quicker and cheaper option than waiting for me to actually reward prizes from the AMOC Prize Pile (I'm a shitty game-show host...)...)

Thanks James!

I also got a package from my friends at the Waverly Press that had this in it:

"What the hell is 'Low Fidelity'?"

Well, Anonymous-AMOC-Reader-who-lives-rent-free-in-my-head (we need to discuss that...)

It's a DELUXE hardcover book in a fancy slipcase.

That's "Pepsi Debbie" on the cover

This is a "Review Copy"

Signed by Bobby Grossman:

And a couple of other people:

It's available through the Waverly's website

SPEAKING OF KICKSTARTERS: The Waverly Press is ALSO running a new Kickstarter for a new Bobby Grossman book: Nobody Waved Goodbye.
NWG is Bobby Grossman's personal selection of rare and previously unpublished photographs of the New York Underground of the 1970s through the 90s. His subjects include Debbie Harry and Chris Stein of Blondie, Jeff Buckley, Nico, Gerard Malanga, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Grace Jones, William Burroughs, Duncan Hannah, Fab 5 Freddy, Talking Heads, Devo, Cookie Mueller, Brigid Berlin, Klaus Nomi, Jim Carroll, Ronnie Cutrone, Iggy Pop, Glenn O'Brien, Ramones, Danny Fields, Jackie Curtis, Rene Ricard, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Suicide, and Stiv Bators, with a new introduction by Carlo McCormick!

All of the photographs in this book are unique to this publication and were not printed in LOW FIDELITY. NWG could be seen as a companion book, though it stands on its own just as well.
You can also get Low Fidelity through the Kickstarter as well. I'ma 'bout halfway through it, and it's pretty damn amazing. There's pictures of David Bowie in there. David Bowie! Just...hanging out. Amazing.

AND: The Waverly Press are running a "Summer Sale". Nearly EVERYTHING is reduced, with discounts between 20 and 80%! Until the end of June. (Sunday the 30th to be PRECISE.) Now's the time to buy that Cerebus #2 you had your eye on... Click HERE, and remember: Your dependents need Cerebus comics more than they need to inherit money when you croak... (I can GUARANTEE this doesn't apply to the NEW Spawn 10 Lenticular covers. But there's a bunch of other stuff you newer fans didn't get yet. And if you don't have it, you COULD hope it's in the AMOC Prize Pile, and that I run a contest you can win, and that I get my shit together and actually mail out prizes...but I wouldn't hold my breath. You're better off going to the source and spending a little money instead of waiting on my lazy ass...)

ANYWAY, I only mention how great THIS book is, because it fills me with GREAT HOPE for the '82 Tour Book they are going to do with Dave and Aardvark-Vanaheim. (Which I've seen some most of the pictures that are gonna end up in there and it's gonna be great!)

Thanks "The Waverly Press"!

Belated happy birthday! You'll be happy to know that you and I will be sharing space in Steve's latest Kickstarter book! Woo hoo! Show Mr. Peters your support, folks! A bit of trivia: the very first project Dave drew after cerebus was a jam with Steve! Pretty awesome 👍👍

I'd say that Comic Link auction sold for a pretty healthy Heritage price
