I always wanted to do an EC homage. I wish I had done something around the time that I did THE COMIC EYE cover with that Ghastly Graham Ingels level of detail. THE COMIC EYE cover and these will have to do!
Dave: You DID, you DID do an EC homage once... for my slideshow JOURNEYS INTO FEAR for the 1993 or '94 A.C.E. Spirit of Independence in Manchester, VT!
No, that was taking a copy of YOUR image and whiting it out one section at a time and replacing every line with as fine a 102 line as possible. Your verdict: "Too pretty". Cruel but fair. I think you could probably say that about Dore's INFERNO and every primo Wrightson piece.
It was a real wake-up call for me. "WHY do you want a horror drawing to be 'pretty'".
I just do. Same with the glamourpuss zombie covers.
Fortunately, I haven't allowed myself to learn how to look up words online (keeping the Internet at semi-arms length).
And I know from experience that any esoteric word that Bissette knows in reference to putrescence, I don't WANT to know. "Once a thing is seen, it can't be UNseen."
Hey, Dave, that's what old-school dictionaries are for. Got two of 'em right here beside my Lazy-Boy. (Of course he does, says Dave, rolling his eyes). Let's see...age of consent...no, too far...adamantium...no, too far back...adiabatic, adieu, adios, ah!
Adipocere: (noun)...
Oh! It's just wax.
Huh. Whaddayaknow? That's not gross; I've got a ton of it in my ears.
What's that? Oh, no, Dictionary Lad is here to serve, happy to help.
Adipocere (/ˈædᵻpəˌsɪər, -poʊ-/), also known as corpse, grave or mortuary wax, is a wax-like organic substance formed by the anaerobic bacterial hydrolysis of fat in tissue, such as body fat in corpses. In its formation, putrefaction is replaced by a permanent firm cast of fatty tissues, internal organs, and the face.
Well, Stephen, I went with the etymology of the word, from the Latin: [ADIPO(SE) + Lat. cera, wax]. I thought it might go over better, especially at dinner time. ;)
My children were needing TN WR-0623 earlier today and found a great service that hosts a searchable forms database . If you are requiring TN WR-0623 too , here's https://goo.gl/kwmGlt.

Beeeyouteefull covers! But, right about now, Max Gaines is spinning in his grave...
This is magnificent stuff, Dave!

Let's make that rotting flesh GLEAM!
Doré: Too pretty.
Wrightson: Too precious.
Channeling Howie Chaykin here...
Certain types of putrescence, such as adipocere, does gleam in a certain light...
That's HOWARD Chaykin to you, Bissette.
HA! I knew that'd get a rise outta somebody!
And here I was hoping you'd look up adipocere instead of fretting over "Howard" v "Howie"...

OR unsmelled.
Woof!

I'm at the Wifi place so both of my dictionaries are back at the Off-White House.
Jeff: Also see:

NOW see what you MADE me do?
Oh, Jeff. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff.
Oh Jeff. I really didn't want to do that.

Didn't they used to make soap out of that stuff?
