Cerebus #53 - Thumbnails for Page 13

A few years ago I scanned all of Dave Sim's notebooks. He had filled 36 notebooks during the years he created the monthly Cerebus series, covering issues #20 to 300, plus the other side items -- like the Epic stories, posters and prints, convention speeches etc. A total of 3,281 notebook pages detailing his creative process. I never really got the time to study the notebooks when I had them. Just did a quick look, scanned them in and sent them back to Dave as soon as possible. So this regular column is a chance for me to look through those scans and highlight some of the more interesting pages.

Last week we looked at pages 41 and 42 of Dave Sim’s sixth notebook. Page 42 had the thumbnail for page 11 of Cerebus #53. In this sixth notebook we’ve seen the thumbnails for pages 1 to 11 and the cover to Cerebus #53. So when I turned to page 43 and didn’t see the thumbnail for page 12, I went forward a few pages in the notebook to see if it popped up. But it didn’t. The next page to have a thumbnail is page 13 on page 43 of the notebook.

Cerebus: Countess?

Vichy: She’s out on the pattyoo, y’flea bit interloper an’ if you want eggs that’s too bad she made the last of ‘em for me. HAW HAW HAW

Cerebus: Nice outfit. Your slip is showing ,dear

Vichy: It’s only ‘til muh clothes dry! Ahm only w’arin’ this till may clothes is dry

The next in the bottom left corner shows up on page 14 as Cerebus is walking around the grounds with the Countess. The text in the bottom right is the text on page 13, the Countess talking to Cerebus.

The thumbnail of page 13 doesn’t have much sketched on it.
