Assuming that the Feb. '72 issue came out in January, that would have made Dave about 15 years and seven months old when he penned (or typed) that letter. That's quite an erudite LOC for a kid who was just a year or so away from dropping out of school forever....
And here I thought that I had bought the only copy of a comic in which Dave had had a letter published--the Superman issue #whatever-it-was. Maybe it's that that was his first one.
Oh, well, better get busy looking for those others.
Great cover, but if I were there I'd definitely recommend that the guy run perpendicular to the tracks.
I bought an old issue of Batman years ago: "The Man Who Saw With His Fingers." Don't recall the issue number. I only bought it because I recognized it as one of the very few non-Harvey comics my mom bought me when I was a kid. Wasn't I surprised to find a Dave Sim letter inside!
Nope. Just Binged the cover (my James Damore Google boycott, doncha know) and that's not the one. I'd pull it out, but it's deep in a stack of longboxes in my basement. Apparently there are at least 2 Batman issues with Sim letters in them.
I think he had letters published in Naughty Bits and Peepshow. Speaking of which, I wonder what Joe Matt has been up to for the last decade or so. Did he ever get a job?
(I was responding to Jeff's question about Dave's letters in indy comics. And I meant to say, "I wonder what Joe Matt has been up to for the last decade apart from editing the guys out of porn videos.")
Yes, Dave had a letter in Joe Matt's Peep Show #13. If he had one in Naughty Bits, I don't know about it - I did collect some of that comic back in the day, but I probably don't own them any more.

Did he ever get any LOCs printed in any indie comics? You know, like Frank Thorne's letter to Aardvark Comment?
Superman #203, it was.

Tony,
#235. It's #235.
Matt
(I've been saying that for two days.)

That'll be news to Margaret.
Matt
It was #231.
That is news to me. . .Thanks for the heads up Tony again.

I've got a complete run of Naughty Bits. When I get to the "N"s in my full-reread (I'm currently on Legion of Super-Heroes) I'll let y'all know.
