The Kickstarter ended. I don't know if "late pledging" is open, but probably not. There were..."headaches" at the end with people changing their pledges, people not paying for extras, people...well, people being people (who need people?) really... Anyway, if you backed the Kickstarter, you'll get Updates and whatnot. And if you didn't back the Kickstarter, well you probably don't care, so why waste time updating you on the progress of a thing you aren't invested in?

Speaking of which, the Cerebus the Aardvark #1 (and Spawn #10) en Español has been sorted out. As I was informed:

a little update on why the Spanish Kickstarter went through the Kickstarter Trust and Safety situation.......it was about the Spawn logo issues. Alfonso has created a new logo, so the old Spawn logo will not be used for the Spanish Dave Sim version. More details to come through Alfonso at a later date.

And, while not a Kickstarter, the Pud's Tavern Logo WILL be on the kid's Dance team's merch. (While I didn't raise the full amount for the Captain level, I worked a bunch of overtime, so the amount is covered. You can still get fun prizes if you're interested.

Mistakes were made...(82 Tour CAN Kickstarter Edition)

Over on the Kickstarter, Dave offered up prototypes of the '82 Tour Book. He had six of them (this should set off alarm bells for anybody who's been paying attention to the '82 debacle), three of version "A", and three of version "B" (seriously, five alarm "what the f*ck?!?" bells.) They all sold in less than five minutes...

Now, Birdsong (who we love dearly, don't take this as an attack on him, he's just one man doing the Herculean job of trying to A: make Dave money by B: doing what Dave wants while C: being constrained by Reality and How Things Actually WORK.), who DOESN'T have physical copies of the '82 Tour Book, and only sees what I show you guys 'round 'ere, he thought this was six copies of the 232 page big ol' Monster that Dave's been discussing at the payment of you fine people.

It was/is not.

It's three copies of the "A" prototype and three of the "B" prototype.

This is the 52 page "cheaper" version that the Waverly Press was going to offer on their planned Kickstarter as a more reasonably priced option for the "budget" consumer.

As I (thought I) explained, the differences between the "A" prototype and the "B" prototype are:

Different logos in the corner box. "A" has a diamond, "B" has an upside down Marvel M as a Waverly W. And if you "get" what this is referencing/parodying, you need to make an appointment for a colonoscopy...

The back covers are different. "A" has the mock-up of the Tour poster, "B" has the actual Tour poster.

"A" is laid out to look like a mock-up of Dave's Tour Diary (bottom), "B" is a more polished look (top).

Both have Deni's introduction, both have Dave's Tour Diary, both have a selection of Deni's Tour photographs.

NEITHER is: 232 pages long; has vintage 1982 interviews; has text from Tour associated individuals like Bill Sienkiewicz, Maggie Thompson, Chuck Rozanski, and Diana Schutz; and other fun stuff that Dave's gonna take a hatchet to in his version... (do I sound bitter? I'm not bitter. YOU'RE bitter.) AND there's no way on God's green Earth that Dave got six copies of it...

Sorry.

Any confusion is entirely the fault of... (gee, who can we pin this on? I mean I'M not taking the fall on this one... Jen? Can we blame Jen? She's been busy and therefore distracted... Mags? ALWAYS a good scapegoat in Mags. She has so much goodwill built up in Cerebus fandom I think she could kill a guy and be immediately forgiven... Hobbs? Nobody's heard from Hobbs in months... Sean? He's remastering Latter Days as we speak, PLUS he's working on Tyrant and that Consigned book. We CAN'T pin this on Sean... Rolly? Rolly's too pure to be the fall guy... We're not blaming Birdsong, it's not his fault that he didn't get a good description of what was on offer... I know! It's ALL) Jeff Seiler fault!

The rarest Cerebus Collectible I've had made this week...and how YOU can get one (okay, two)!

If you're visiting A Moment of Cerebus, I presume you own Cerebus, either physically (individual issues or the phonebooks, or a mix of both.), or digitally. But if you DON'T own Cerebus digitally (at this point, I, again, presume this is an increasingly shrinking minority,) well all "three hundred" (not really) issues will be on "4-hour Crazy Sale" on Monday, May 4th, from 10AM to 2PM (presumably Eastern time) at CerebusDownloads.com for TWENTY-FIVE CANADIAN DOLLARS ($18.39 USD based on today's exchange rate.) It's 

So, if you've been debating "pulling the trigger" on getting digital Cerebus, Monday is the day to get all sixteen Phonebooks (ten of them Remastered by Sean Robinson (who has all but Latter Days remastered, but not converted to CerebusDownloads.com format, so by the end of the year(?) you'll have almost all of them remastered and on CerebusDownloads.com for $25CAD when Dave "runs" his nutty sale...),). Cue Granpaw's postcard:

It's NOT 1-300. It's 1-50, 52-111, 114-136, 7/10ths of 138, 139-300. #s 51, 112/113, 137, and 3/10ths of 138 aren't reprinted in the phonebooks. They ARE reprinted in Cerebus Number 0, which isn't on CerebusDownloads.com, but I'm WORKING on it...

Again, it's NOT "the complete 6,000-page CEREBUS GRAPHIC NOVEL", because eighty-six pages aren't reprinted in the phonebooks (but "Goat" and Silverspoon ARE, which adds fifteen pages,) And it was NEVER "6000-pages", because 1-13 are twenty-TWO pages each, so it's 6026 pages. But you have to subtract the 86 pages that aren't in the phonebooks, but ADD the 11 Silverspoon strips and the 4 page Goat. Which is 5,954 pages. And that doesn't count the Notes in the latter phonebooks. (If you think those "count".) OR, the "Miscellany" stories like the Swords shorts that take place between issues (and in one case between panels of a single issue...) which should "count" towards the total page count. 
Basically, Dave's not to good with numbers when it comes to Cerebus...
I don't MEAN to be pedantic, but he's ALWAYS doing this stuff... don't even get me started on the print run of Cerebus #1...

Okay, so I'm ONCE again trying to get the Pud's Tavern Logo onto the shirts and such for my kid's Dance Team

Now THIS year, they changed up how they're soliciting sponsorships

I want Pud's Tavern announced at halftime of the games the girls dance at. SO to get to the Captain's level, I need to raise $350 (I know they say three hundred at a minimum, but I think we need to outshine everybody else. We're being stupid, so we might as well go all out...). I got a couple of backers already (and a hearty "Thank you, sir" to those guys...), but I'ma need more help. BUT I understand that there are a whole lot of Cerebus-related-things you can throw money at around here (I post all them links in these things, after all,) and this  one is so fucking dumb, but I gotta try, because it's funny. (So funny.) SO, to reward the hardspent cash of you brave volunteers, EVERYBODY who donates Twenty American Dollars ($20) will get a RARE Cerebus collectible.

"How rare?" There are only 40 of them.

(And ACTUALLY, it's sixteen sets left, since the two guys who already chipped in are getting sets. It pays to be nice early...)

Which includes $3 cheapo versions of the comics, and Dave's "I hate your stupid mailman" Cerebus backissue offer. Two hundred and thirty-one issues of Cerebus from the Cerebus Archive, that have NEVER been circulated:

It's 231, because there are issues that Dave's completely sold out of. 

And it's a package deal, you gotta buy all 231 of them. Dave (more realistically, Rolly) isn't gonna dig around and find you that ONE copy of issue #89 I need...I mean, that one issue you need. It's all of 'em or nothing. And Dave's only offering THREE sets on this Kickstarter (mainly because the cost is pretty high...) $340USD to Canada, $440USD to the USA, and $640USD to all the other parts of the world that we only think of when we're playing RISK. "Yugoslavia? Czechoslovakia? Peru? You're just making up words..."

They're not listed as rewards, you have to back the campaign, and then message Birdsong. It's his problem then...

Well, it's been a week, and we's all now updated, right?

HAHAHA! Nah man, there's a Kickstarter going on! They's got Tracing Papers, and Stretch Goals, and CAN29 (I mean, if you think about it, each CAN is the EARLIEST Ten pages of a given phonebook in the Cerebus Archive. This is CAN13, so it's the first ten pages of Going Home, which is the first ten pages of Cerebus #232. But you can get the SECOND ten pages from the same issue, which (if Dave were to continue the CAN sequencing after CAN16, with the second set of the ten earliest pages from the Cerebus volume as CAN17) (something that isn't guaranteed, but I'm on a roll, so shut up and go with it...) would mean the second half of Issue #232 would be CAN29. (And the second set of issue #220 that was offered with CAN12 would be CAN28...) Anyway, like I said, there's all sorts of neat stuff in the Kickstarter. In fact Dave made a video:

Over in the Premium “We Just Want To Live Our Lives” Suite, we can see Meghan and Harry sitting, ready to see the outcome of what has been so far a spectacular race here at AMOC! 

 

And over in the lower bleachers are Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry, back from Coachella and looking like a couple of fun-loving college kids! Obviously since leaving office and shacking up with Ms. Perry (from what I understand, there are no tariffs involved in the relationship, just a lot of trade-offs. Nyuck Nycuk Nyuck. Sorry folks, a little matrimonial humour there), the ex-Prime Minister has reconsidered his 2025 stance on Canadians avoiding travel to the U.S., and I’m sure all my fellow Canadians will agree it’s great to see him out and about and enjoying himself!

 

Okay, everyone’s getting ready, on their marks…annndddd….<ding!>  THE HORSES ARE OFF!

’82 TOUR-DIARY still leads with its dominant position. PLEASE-HOLD maintaining a steady gallop but it’s looking like ’82 TOUR-DIARY all the way. Coming up now on the far turn, and PLEASE-HOLD has a $1 donation! A glimmer of hope for PLEASE-HOLD. But will it be enough to give PLEASE-HOLD the kick it needs to overcome the gap between the horses, or is ’82 TOUR-DIARY too far gone for any chance of a catch up? Yup, it's time for me to find a Sponsor for my kid's High School Dance Team. They placed fifth at State last season (the team has made it to State the last six years), and are gonna make a go of it again.

One of the problems (it's a girls High School Dance team, there are many...) this year, is that they're getting a new Athletic Director for the school district, which means the "niggardly sum"

that the team gets to pay for everything might go "bye-bye" like *that*. So, they're really pushing the fundraising this year.

As long time readers/viewers/visitors to AMOC may recall, last year I, and a merry band of Aardvark lovin' malcontents, got a logo for Pud's Tavern:

 onto the Team's banners, t-shirts, and whatnot.

Well, I'ma try to do it again. But this year the deal is slightly different:

Each dancer's family is expected to bring in at least $200 in sponsorships, but if I can raise $300, they'll announce Pud's Tavern as a Sponsor at all halftime performances when the girls dance. And the logo will be bigger on everything.

Bigger is, as we all know, BETTER!
