Wait, copying a check is illegal?

Hi, Everybody!

From the depths of the AMOCHIVE, I bring you the fourth excerpt from “Time Machine and a coat hanger!” The Making of glamourpuss #25/ Zootananpuss #4, page 9*:

(For those that are coming in fresh, part 1, part 2, part 3.)

So, continuing:
I sent this pitch to Dave in a fax and didn’t hear back from him at all.

I figured this one was another dud until one Friday when I was watching SimTeeVee on YouTube.

Episode 108 was playing and I thought some of the images looked familiar. Especially when I saw this:
“What the Hell? That’s Iguana” I said to myself.

And then I saw this:
“The Adventures of Bi-Curious Avril Lavigne?”

“What the Balls…”

So I called Dave up and left a message that pretty much said that either I made the issue or this was a really sick April Fool’s Day joke.

Dave called me back and said that it wasn’t a joke. And he explained some of the changes he had made to the script (which are kinda documented on page 9 of glamourpuss #25) (You all have copies right? *hint* *hint*). And he told me he was sending me fifteen copies of the book and a check for twenty-five bucks.

SCORE!

When the package arrived, Dave had also included the tracing paper page he had used in the production of the actual page and his photo reference AND a page where he had worked out the dialogue for his bits. THAT WAS HAND-LETTERED:

How cool is that?

Here are some of the changes he made. Compare them to the finished copy:

And:
Which means I almost got only 20 bucks, SCORE again!

“Okay, so what the deal with Mouse Skull Productions?” I hear the more astute of you asking?

No idea. It’s been Mouse Skull Entertainment since I first started doing mini-comics in 2005. Why it’s “Mouse Skull Productions” in glamourpuss #25/ zootanapuss #4, I have no idea. I’ve been telling people that it’s because Mouse Skull Productions is the cheap Canadian knock-off of Mouse Skull Entertainment.

Well, there ya go. My fifteen minutes of fame (relatively speaking.)

To be fair, this was written BEFORE Tim vacated the premises and handed AMOC over to me...

Will there be more Matt Dow-written glamourpuss? Probably not.

Dave cancelled the book with issue #26. And unless he gets a hankering for me to do some more, I don’t think I’ll be in the pages of another Aardvark-Vanaheim funnybook soon.

And Vark Wars and Vark Wars: Walt's Empire Strikes Back happened...

That’s not to say I don’t have any ideas. Pitch #4 was inspired by an issue of Vogue I bought with Rooney Mara in it.

“The Girl With The Aardvark Tattoo.” I got some pictures of her and a half-finished script, but it’s not quite there.

I decided that since the source material was originally in Swedish, that my script should be in Swedish Chef Swedish (ya know, “bork-a bork-a bork-a”).

Maybe I’ll finish up “Der Fröken Mit Der Åardvarken Tattöö” someday.

And there’s a fifth pitch, but the less said about THAT one the better.

Thanks for buying…er, reading!

Matt Dow

Yes, this was written as a mini-comic sized little book that I was going to sell. But I felt it needed a little something extra, and never produced it. (Although I did fax it to Dave and got back a bunch of corrections...)

And here's the art:

Here it is from in the "Hallway of Solitude"

And the art...
It's not the actual check for $25 bucks, I made a copy...

Spider-Whore

The Amicable Spider-Vark is in stores, which is the lead in to Spider-Whore, which was SUPPOSED to be the immediate sequel, but Batvark: PENIS ended up taking Spider-Whore's slot when COVID-19 threw everything up into the air.

Speaking of Spider-Vark, A Moment of Cerebus is facilitating Aardvark/Vanaheim's auctioning of a signed copy of the mis-stapled The Amicable Spider-Vark #1. Bidding is at $125 American dollars (plus shipping) to Jeff Seiler. I'm ending this today. If Rich wants to top Jeff he's got til midnight to let me know..

Cerebus masks and whatnots with all the money going to Dave. I'll be adding the Cerebus in Hell? 4 Sale stuff soon...

If you missed the Kickstarter for Dave and Carson Grubaugh's You Don't Know Jack, there's an Indiegogo, which is going to be ending at some point. So, go go Indy.

If you missed the Waverly Press Kickstarter for the Remastered Cerebus #1, limited overflow of the rewards are available at cerebusoverload.com.

And Dave's calling on Thursday, so get your questions in to momentofcerebus@gmail.com.

"I Think She's Functionally Illiterate." "Manly" Matt Dow's THIRD glamourpuss pitch

Hi, Everybody!

T.G.I.M(?):

_______
Yesterday Oliver shared a link to the tweeters where I talked about how page nine of glamourpuss #25 happened

Well, that was OBVIOUSLY an abbreviated version of the story, so now from the depths of the AMOCHIVE, I bring you the third excerpt from “Time Machine and a coat hanger!” The Making of glamourpuss #25/ Zootananpuss #4, page 9*:

(For those that are coming in fresh, part 1, part 2.)

So, back to the drawing board (metaphorically speaking, I wrote most of these pitches at my security guard job.)

Finally after seven months of constant (no, it wasn’t) back breaking (no, it wasn’t) labor (it was more fun than I’m making it sound) I had a new pitch to send to Dave:

glamourpuss pitch #3:
Hey Dave,

So here’s the pitch, if you like it, I’ll send up my drawings and the photo reference. I’ve had the title in my head since 2003. I’m glad I finally found a place to use it. Give me a call when you read this if you wanna discuss it (good or bad) I work until 4PM your time, but I’m available every night until 10PM. My numbers are (***) ***-**** (cell) and (***) ***-**** (home) I’d recommend calling home first. Hope ya like this,

Matt Dow

Page 1, banner across top of page: Aardvark-Vanaheim presents our next “sure fire” winner: The Bi-Curious Adventures of Avril Lavigne (and then really small) Copyright 2012 Dave Sim* (at bottom of page) *Iguana and Beer copyright 2012 Matt Dow
As I put on my rough, I suggested Dave use the art from Pretty Girls and Other Subjects:

Because I thought that'd save him from having to draw a new image.
Anyway, back to the pitch:
Panel 1: Image of Avril Lavigne on right with text on left
Text: Being an International superstar can be, like, totally exhausting. So it’s, like, ya know, totally bitchin’ that after the applause dies, and the, like, curtain comes down, that, like, my Bi-curious Adventures can, like, totally begin…
Panel 2: Iguana and Beer looking up at panel 1(they could be changed to two other characters, like you as Iguana and me as Beer if you want. I’ll get photos of me and thru the magic of photo-realism we can appear together.)
Text Iguana: Yeah… I’m out.
Text Beer: What?

Panel 3: Iguana and Beer looking at each other.
Text Iguana: Pretty sure this one gets us sued. I’m out.
Text Beer: No…we won’t get sued.

Panel 4: Same only Iguana is pointing up at panel 1.
Text Iguana: In what bizarre universe does THAT not get us sued?
Text Beer: Listen, under “Parody and Fair Use” we can use her and not get sued.

Page 2, banner across top of page: The Bi-Curious Adventures of Avril Lavigne (and then really small) Copyright 2012 David Slim* (at bottom of page) *Iguana and Beer copyright 2012 Mike Dowe
Panel 1: Image of pretty girl (which I will provide later) on left with text on right and an ID card with Avril Lavigne’s picture in the lower right corner
Text: This is Vanessa, I met her on a flight to New Zealand. It was, like, a really, like, long flight, so we, like, started foolin’ around and, OMG, that’s how I, like, joined the, like, Mile High Club…
Text ID card: Earth Pig Airlines Mile High Club “Get there in the Air” Avril Lavigne member since 2008

Here's the three images I had in my files that I was gonna send Dave as candidates for "Vanessa":

Panel 2: Iguana and Beer looking at each other. Iguana has his arms raised in annoyance.
Text Iguana: For saying she’s gay?!?
Text Beer: Not gay, Bi. There’s a difference.

Panel 3: Same, only now Iguana is subdued.
Text Iguana: Can you prove it either way?
Text Beer: …no.

Panel 4: straight shot of Iguana
Text Iguana: Yeah…I’m out.

Page 3, banner across top of page: The Bi-Curious Adventures of Avril Lavigne (and then really small) Copyright 2012 Victor Davis* (at bottom of page) *Iguana and Beer copyright 2012 Bruce Zachs

My suggested image for page three.

Panel 1: Image of Taylor Swift on right with text on left.

Text: This is Taylor. We, like, met at this, like, awards show or something. The tension between us was, like, palatable, or something. We were totally gonna organize this “Free Lindsey Lohan” benefit concert, but, like, by the time we got serious, Lindsey was already free. So we partied in Cabo instead.
Panel 2: straight shot of Beer.
Text Beer: Listen, we’re not gonna get sued 1: Parody and Fair Use, 2:She’s never gonna find out, 3: have you ever heard her song “SK8ER Boi”? I think she’s functionally illiterate.

Panel 3: Beer and Iguana facing each other, Iguana is pointing over his shoulder with his thumb.
Text Iguana: You make a strong case…I’m out.

Panel 4: straight shot of Beer
Text Beer: Seriously?

Page 4, banner across top of page: The Bi-Curious Adventures of Avril Lavigne (and then really small) Copyright 2012 The Follicly-Challenged Neil Gaiman of Earth 2* (at bottom of page) *Iguana and Beer copyright 2012 The Not-So-Super Clark Kent of Earth 111

My suggested image for page four.
Panel 1: Image of girl on left, text on right
Text: And this is Liz. She’s, like, English or something. When we met, she, like, invited me back to her, like, flat for “tea and crumpets.” I, like, didn’t know what a crumpet was, but, like, based on what happened next, “crumpets” are, like, banned in Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, and Mississippi because they, like, “constitute lewd and unlawful behavior.”

Panel 2: Beer Facing Iguana
Text Beer: glamourpuss sells what, around 2000 copies?
Text Iguana: So?

Panel 3: Same.
Text Beer: So a quarter of those get “bagged and boarded” and never read.
Text Iguana: So?

Panel 4: Same.
Text Beer: So what are the odds that she or her lawyers will ever see a copy?

Page 5 panel one: a letter
Letter Text: Law offices of Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger and McCormick
Misters Iguana & Beer, We represent Avril Lavigne. Glamourpuss Industries, its directors, officers, agents, employees and assigns (collectively, “Iguana & Beer”) are hereby warned and notified to CEASE AND DESIST making false and defamatory statements regarding Avril Lavigne and its ongoing matters with Iguana & Beer. It has come to our attention that false statements were made by Iguana & Beer. Specifically in the previous four pages titled “The Bi-Curious Adventures of Avril Lavigne.” The statements made by Iguana & Beer regarding Avril Lavigne are false, defamatory, constitute tortuous interference with business, and as such, are actionable under Canadian law. If our client is forced to commence a lawsuit against Iguana & Beer in order to stop continued false and defamatory statements, be advised that we will seek recovery of all attorneys’ fees and costs incurred herein as a result. While we certainly hope this is not necessary, we are prepared to pursue whatever avenues are necessary on behalf of our client to stop the continued false and defamatory statements made against Avril Lavigne by Iguana & Beer.

Sincerely,
Charles H. Hungerdunger
Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger, Hungerdunger and McCormick

Panel 2: Beer and Iguana looking up at panel 1.
Text Beer: Well look at that…
Text Iguana: F*** me running…

Panel 3: Beer and Iguana looking at each other.
Text Iguana: “Parody and fair Use” huh?
Text Iguana: Schmuck…

Panel 4: Beer looking up at panel 1, no Iguana.
Text Beer: Well I guess this kills next issue’s “Diane Keaton: Vampire Slayer”…

So notes on Pitch #3: I liked that every page the names change. First it’s Dave and I, then what glamourpuss calls us,

Actually, "Mike Dowe" comes from when Dave sent me the pictures of when I gave him his gold watch for finishing Cerebus, he had signed them "To Mike".  And I used to get asked all the time if my last name had an "E" in it.

then Dave’s substitute from Reads and a pseudonym I created for myself,

It's the names of two of my favorite cats I've lived with.

fourth is a character Dave played on Cerebus TV and a similar character I could have played had Cerebus TV continued.

Anybody else remember The Follicly-Challenged Neil Gaiman of Earth 2?

The law firm that the cease and desist comes from is the law firm Groucho uses in the Marx Brothers’ Animal Crackers.

I drew the first four pages and then went on the internet to get a sample cease-and-desist letter I could use as a template. When I finished writing up my version, I realized that I didn’t have an ending while I was typing up page five. “Diane Keaton Vampire Slayer” was a top-of-my-head idea. She was in an article in one of the two issues of Vogue I had bought as research for my pitches.
Next Time: How I discovered my script made the cut!

*Advance praise for glamourpuss archive:

"Designed by a 77 year-old closeted transvestite.” "Manly" Matt Dow's SECOND glamourpuss pitch

Hi, Everybody

Your ol' Interim Editor "Manly" Matt Dow here. With the NEXT chapter in The Making of glamourpuss #25/ Zootananpuss #4, page 9*:

As you remember from last time, Dave had asked me to pitch a five page story for glamourpuss.

Pitch one was the one at the link. And now,

Here’s the reference I sent Dave for Pitch one:
Ted Kennedy’s 1967 Oldsmobile

Ted Kennedy’s car as a weapon comes from a bumper sticker my dad has, “Nuclear energy is safer than Ted Kennedy’s car.”  Which is true.  In the US Ted’s car killed more people than Nuclear Energy.

Jodie Foster. (Admit it, you wanna see Dave’s version of this picture.)
The Tardis from Doctor Who one of the best known Time Machines in the world.

Yeah, the last panel on page 5.  glamourpuss’ bit about the offer being a hoax?  The idea on page 1 was that -- even though it contradicts the copy -- this story is a dream, a hoax, and an imaginary story.   But I got to the end of page 5 and realized I had forgotten to introduce the date offer which would turn out to be a hoax. So that’s why that word balloon looks so funny.

Every time I read Iguana’s balloon in panel two I hear Arlo Guthrie’s voice in my head. “You got a lot of damn gall” is a line from Arlo’s song “Alice’s Restaurant.”

I also love that a page ago, Iguana and Beer were mortal enemies and now they’re best pals.

I have no idea what the deleted bits from glamourpuss’ bit in the last panel are. I just figure that all the truly personal details of her life get edited out of her magazine.

It’s a good pitch. A fine pitch. I felt this one was the ONE.  But I also had a few other ideas. As listed in my notebook:
                1: gp VS I VS B
                2: glamour babies
3: glamourpuss’ Confidential “A-list” Celebrity boyfriend
                4: glamourpuss Reader’s In Crisis
                5: Nixon Reagan thing

Numbers two and three never got to the paper stage, they’re only in my head.
Number four was struck out as it turned into number 5. Which turned into Pitch #2…

Pitch #2:

This idea is closer (I think) to what Dave was looking for, at least in terms of execution.  My uncle had a box of files on various subjects that I inherited after he died.  In the box was a file full of AP photos of Nixon.  One of them, on the second page of pitch 2, was of Nixon writing at a desk.  I was gonna use it in “glamourpuss Readers In Crisis” but couldn’t get a decent hook. Then I found another photo and it all came together.

I needed to introduce the idea, so page one is my rip-off of Peabody's Improbable History.  With everybody’s favorite skeletal dog, Boner the Runt Dog, as Peabody, and my nephew Brenton as Sherman.
I do love jokey copyright notices...

Here are the photos of Brenton I had taken:

Panel 1
Panel 2
Panel 3
Panel 5
Panel 6
The background for panel 5
For all his hard work, I paid Brenton five bucks.
Anybody who feels I underpaid the little twerp should note that the kid is fifteen now and twelve foot four.
Also, he's "smiting" me with Thor's hammer in this picture.

Frankly, I'm amazed he's still alive...
glamourpuss pitch #2, page 2:
Click to see Tricky Dick in all his glory.
Text: As 37th President Richard Milhous Nixon ends his first term in office, he begins planning his re-election bid. Facing poor approval ratings due to the war in Vietnam and domestic unrest at home, Nixon looks into a WWII era project he first learned about as Vice-President under Eisenhower.
Code named “Rebirth”, the project was considered a failure due to the death of its lead scientist in 1941.
Page 3:
Image: Kirby style Captain America punching out a hippie, but Cap has Nixon’s head
Caption Nixon: 23 Skidoo Hippie!
Text: New research by government scientists was proving promising, leading Nixon to briefly plan on using the new formula on himself.
Unfortunately at 58 Nixon was too old for the formula to be successful. A search for a 98-pound weakling to transform into a new patriotic super-soldier was begun.

Yeah, that’s the origin of Captain America I’m talking about on page two.  Why?  We’ll get there.

Oh I almost forgot, back on page one of the second pitch, the reason Boner says, “…be whisked back to San Clemente, California…” is that Nixon had what was known as “The Western White House” in California for when he would go home on vacation and stuff. Little factoid for you.  Hope it helps if you’re ever on Jeopardy.

Ah yes, “23 Skidoo Hippie!”  That came about because, one day, my wife and I were at my mom’s, and in the course of our conversation, the fact that my mom was eighteen during the “Summer of Love” and -- was sort of a hippie and used to use all those old hippie sayings like “Peace” and “Love” and “23 Skidoo” -- came up.  And my mom got REAL belligerent about how “23 Skidoo” wasn’t a hippie phrase.  And the more belligerent she got the funnier it was. So I had to use that somewhere. And having Nixon say it was just icing on my metaphorical cake.

glamourpuss pitch #2, page 4:
Click for the Gipper

Text: A novel suggestion was made to Nixon by then California governor Ronald Reagan.
Since the formula would turn a 98-pound weakling into an American Fighting Machine, was there any reason the 98-pound weakling couldn’t be a woman?
It was a brilliant political move that could boost Nixon’s numbers with the burgeoning feminist movement in the upcoming election.

Page 5:
Image: A montage of girls. More girls than you can shake a stick at. I mean “Fruitcake Park” numbers of girls.
Text: So a quick change was made to the search criteria, and the hunt began.

Back in the day, famed X-Men writer Chris Claremont used to say when creating new characters, “Is there any reason this couldn’t be a woman?”  Dave then used that logic when creating Madame duFort in Cerebus.  I liked the idea of giving that line to Ronald Reagan.

The “Fruitcake Park”- style parade of girls was mostly put in there to make up to Dave that Nixon wasn’t a hot chick.

[editor’s(?) note: I send this supplement to Dave to see if he had any notes, and he responded:
(actually, I’ve always been completely at peace with the fact that Richard Nixon wasn’t a hot chick.  Even back in my womanizing days – Dave the Proofreader)
Laugh?  I thought I’d die.  Matt]

glamourpuss pitch #2, page 6
You don't have to click on this one to make it bigger, the FBI already knows what they need to...

Text: During a meeting about criminal background checks with J. Edgar Hoover, an offer was made by the veteran FBI director to help design a uniform for the new super-hero.
Image: blurry photo of Hoover in drag, similar to the blurry film
used by Rich Koslowski in Three Fingers, basically a blurry mess that could be anything.
Text: (Rumors that the director had a spare costume made in a size 44 have never been properly substantiated.)

Come on… you would’ve made a “Hoover was a transvestite” joke too…

Yes, you would have.

Whatever…denial ain’t just a river in Egypt…

Anyway, the blurry photo bit seemed like a good idea at the time.

glamourpuss pitch #2, page 7
Click all you want, she doesn't get any bigger...
Text: Finally a candidate was chosen, and on September 19th, 1972 Ms. America made her debut. (A military rank was  deemed too unpopular in light of increasing anti-war sentiment.)
She was a complete failure.
Vogue editor Grace Mirabella criticized the costume saying it: “looked like it was designed by a 77 year-old closeted transvestite.”
Ms. America was soon overshadowed by the Watergate scandal, and was quickly forgotten by the public.
She settled in Ontario where she got married and gave birth to twin girls: glamourpuss and Skanko.

And here we have the photo I came across which brought this whole pitch together.  It’s from Entertainment Weekly’s San Diego Comicon coverage.

When I saw it, I knew I had to use it in a glamourpuss pitch.  I mean, I already had the Nixon photos.

The line: “looked like it was designed by a 77-year-old closeted transvestite” was something I was a little unsure of.  I thought I might be going a bit too far, but hey, it made me laugh.

I was actually surprised at how much research a seven-page strip required.

I had to look up what kind of car Kennedy had; I had to look up when Hoover died (which was less than a year after that picture with Nixon was taken) I had to look up who the editor of Vogue was in 1973.

But I think it was worth it.

So I had two really good pitches, now all I needed was a cover sheet  and to print out all the photo reference and mail it out to Dave.  Which I did in September 2011.

And I didn’t hear anything back for a month.  So I called Dave to make sure he got the package.

Nothing.

So anyway, no response from Dave until sometime in late October I got home from work to find the following in my mailbox:

“Not funny enough.”

Not. Funny. Enough.

Each word a stab into my heart.

Agony. Despair. Sadness.

As the following days turned into weeks turned into months, those words would haunt me.

“Not funny enough.” I mean, looking back, Dave was right. The pitches are clever, but they don’t make you almost piss yourself laughing. No one was gonna be quoting lines from them for years to come (“wuffa wuffa wuffa” being an example of the kind of joke that has legs.)

Was I discouraged?

Does the Pope wish I hadn’t made that pedophile crack earlier?

You bet I was discouraged.

But did I quit? (Obviously not, you’ve read glamourpuss #25 right?)

Hey! 'emember glamourpuss #25/Zootanapuss #4? Specifically, the page I plotted and co-scripted?

Well, from the depths of the AMOCHIVE, I bring you an excerpt from “Time Machine and a coat hanger!” The Making of glamourpuss #25/ Zootananpuss #4, page 9*:
_______________________________

So, how did Iguana and Beer end up in glamourpuss #25?  Well, my sophisticated friend, therein lies a tale…

It all started August 2011. I got off of work and called my house to tell my mom, who was babysitting my daughter, something or other.  And the phone was busy.  “Why would Mom be on the phone?” I wondered.

So I get home and mom says, “You’ll never guess who I just talked to…Dave Sim.”

Apparently Dave called for me, and ended up talking to my mom for ten minutes.

“Why would Dave be calling for me?” I wondered.  It was unusual for Dave to call, but not unprecedented. Dave had called back in 2007 when he was gearing up for the glamourpuss virtual tour and asked my advice on where he should go to promote glamourpuss.

 But why now?

(I think,) I called Dave back and left a message letting him know I was home and what times I’d be available to talk for the next few days.

And later that night, while I was doing the dishes, Dave called back.

He told me that he really liked Racecar Comics #5 (still available *hint hint*) and thought it was really funny, especially the bit with the Uncanny Farmcats. (What am I talking about? I guess you should buy an issue and find out, huh?) …and, that he was wondering if I would like to pitch a 5 page story for glamourpuss?

Would I?

Does the Pope know a lot of pedophiles?

You bet your sweet bippy I would like to pitch a story for glamourpuss.

We talked for a little bit about ideas.

There was one idea about babies that were “glamourpusses (glamourpi?) in training.” (My wife and I, having just had our first child, had a large stack of baby-photo-filled magazines.)

Then Dave had to go, and I had to finish the dishes.

Well that night and the next day I started plotting.:
“Double-page spread: Image of a baby carriage in the distance on the left-hand-side of page one.  On right-hand-side of page two, hand holding a half-full champagne glass with a pacifier in it. Text glamourpuss: “glamourpuss thought babies were helpless little bundles of joy until one of her new rent-a-kids threw her ‘bibby’ twenty feet into glamourpuss’ $6000 dollar-a-bottle glass of 1977 Chateau du Fourmilier…”

“Nope, that’s two pages, and we’ve only got five to work with…”

And plotting:
“Maybe Dave will recognize my genius and hire me on full-time to do the glamourpuss half of the book.”

“Money and Power, and Money and Power…”
So between delusions of grandeur and work and life and stuff a month went by.

My third or fourth idea was “glamourpuss VS Iguana VS Beer”.  Looking back, I suppose it was inevitable.  My mini-comics career had started with “Cerebus VS Iguana VS Beer” (no longer available as a flipbook to Racecar Comics #1, so I guess your back issue’s worth some money now!) So teaming my two morons with gp seemed like a good idea.

The initial idea was written down on a note at my day job. “gp VS Iguana VS Beer. Beer (to gp): I want you to have primary custody of my babies” and “GP talks in third person Iguana imitates her: ‘Iguana likes taquitos. Iguana thinks we should get Mexican”

So, here’s pitch one:
This is the cover sheet.

Which is a parody of Cerebus VS Iguana VS Beer #1:

And yes, my drawing of Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King is saying "Whatchu talking about Dave Sim?" 'cause I'm classy...

This is where the title "Time machine and a coat hanger." comes from.
See, the joke is that it IS a Dream and a hoax, and an Imaginary Story...

The big problem, was I assumed Dave had a stockpile of images of models to use as reference, he did not.

Next Time: Dave's response to this pitch. Wait, no. Tomorrow is Wednesday, Hobbs does Wednesdays. Then it's Margaret and the notebooks, then Friday is the Weekly Update, then Saturday should be August's Please Hold For Dave Sim, so...Sunday?
