Dave has things on Heritage. These are FROM the Cerebus Archive, and Dave (eventually) gets ALL the money (minus the fees and whatnot. Plus he won't believe it until the money crosses his hand... *NOT* my first "Dave waiting to be paid" rodeo...):

Also Kickstartering:
Living the Line's next Kickstarter has ended. There is an option for late backers, so if you were waiting for the last minute, you messed up, better click over there and hope you can get in...
And I was asked: "Scott Palochik & Dreamscape Publishing has the 4th issue of MARCVS live on Kickstarter now. If you could kindly put it up on the Rigamole, it would be greatly appreciated."

And JUST IN TIME for the next year's fundraising push, I FINALLY got around to making Pud's Tavern Merch:

Yup, it's time for me to find a Sponsor for my kid's High School Dance Team. They placed fifth at State last season (the team has made it to State the last six years), and are gonna make a go of it again.

One of the problems (it's a girls High School Dance team, there are many...) this year, is that they're getting a new Athletic Director for the school district, which means the "niggardly sum"

that the team gets to pay for everything might go "bye-bye" like *that*. So, they're really pushing the fundraising this year.

As long time readers/viewers/visitors to AMOC may recall, last year I, and a merry band of Aardvark lovin' malcontents, got a logo for Pud's Tavern:

onto the Team's banners, t-shirts, and whatnot.

Well, I'ma try to do it again. But this year the deal is slightly different:
Each dancer's family is expected to bring in at least $200 in sponsorships, but if I can raise $300, they'll announce Pud's Tavern as a Sponsor at all halftime performances when the girls dance. And the logo will be bigger on everything.
Bigger is, as we all know, BETTER!

If you wanna help (and I hope you do,) shoot an email to momentofcerebus@gmail.com, and we'll work it out. Everyone who kicks in will receive a special A Moment Of Cerebus item that has the AMOC Logo on it. (I will tell you more if you chip in...) Also, if you chip in, you get a vote on if "Buggid" goes on there, or Pud's Ale Mug.

Thank you for your attention in this matter...

Next Time: Mondays!

The Strange Death of Cerebus part 2: Form & Void

Hi, Everybody!

So when I was filling in for Jen on Tuesday, I talked about Cerebus' death and Square One.

Well, at the end of Form & Void, this happens:

Now in the notes, Dave talks about how Cerebus is performing the traditional Hebrew mourning rituals of rending your clothes and covering your face in ashes.

And I'm not denying that, but there's other layers going on as well.

On one level, Jaka is enacting Cerebus' march from Minds when he was on Pluto:

(Which Cerebus reenacted in Going Home:)
On another level, as the Cerebus/Jaka relationship goes the way "Dave" prophesized it would in Minds, Cerebus covering his face with dirt is also an inversion of the Square One Motif. Cerebus is trying to go into silhouette. And of course he keeps "going blank" which leads to WHITE panels instead of Black silhouette.

I guess I'll ask Dave about it for the January Please Hold For Dave Sim...

True Romance Part Deux

MARGARET LISS:
A few years ago I scanned all of Dave Sim's notebooks. He had filled 36 notebooks during the years he created the monthly Cerebus series, covering issues #20 to 300, plus the other side items -- like the Epic stories, posters and prints, convention speeches etc. A total of 3,281 notebook pages detailing his creative process. I never really got the time to study the notebooks when I had them. Just did a quick look, scanned them in and sent them back to Dave as soon as possible. So this regular column is a chance for me to look through those scans and highlight some of the more interesting pages.

Last week's True Romance was the first time in two years we've seen at Dave Sim's thirty-third Cerebus notebook. So continuing the look at Dave writing about Ham, Mary, and Jaka in Going Home, here is the continuation of Jaka in Going Home and then Cerebus in Going Home:

Notebook #33, page 20

Notebook #33, page 21
Quite the foursome they've got going on. When double dates go wrong. . .

We've only looked at Dave Sim's thirty-third Cerebus notebook twice before. Mostly recently in April of 2017 in Salad Fork Stuck to His Face. While the notebook was labeled as mostly containing material for Cerebus #251, there is some other Going Home items in it.

Take for example these two pages from the notebook. Dave writing about Ham, Mary, and Jaka in Going Home:

More proof Matt's NOT insane...

Hi, Everybody!

I found more proof that my Insane Fan Theory isn't so insane:

Namely, this page from Church & State Vol. 1:

Courtesy of CerebusDownloads.com

Which I digitally reassembled:

You're welcome...
But, in case it's still illegible for ya:
"Greetings to Cerebus, Prime Minister of Iest from Palnu and Lord Julius We cogratulate you on the occasion of your marrige to the former Sophia Henrot-Gutch and wish you long life and a fruitful union Mat Tarim bless the United Feldwar States and our beloved President Weisshaupt. for Lord Julius signed Jaka, daughter of the House of Tavers"

So, there ya go.

Next Time: Hobbs, then Liss, then Sim, then me.
