That's why you wrestle with shadows (Dave's weekly update #627)

Hi, Everybody!

Like it says on the Logo:
That little bit on the bottom there...

It's Friday, so that means:
___________________________
A Moment of Cerebus runs Saturday through Friday.

The past Week in AMOC:
  • Saturday/Sunday: Dave sends stuff. I post it.
  • Monday: The Monday Report, and the transcript to Please Hold For Dave Sim 4/2023.
  • Tuesday: Since Jen is indisposed, I'm back posting on Tuesdays. Still posting to help raise funds on The Strange Death of Alex Raymond GoFundMe, but I don't know the math, maybe it's $135 until page 126 of Dave's POST-Carson SDOAR mock-up pages unlocks? Anyway, I'ma post ALL of glamourpuss over the next how many weeks. And Jen is gonna do her thing. AND GoFundMe has a MONTHLY option now, so you can schedule a reoccurring donation. *hint* *hint*
  • Wednesday: The NEW Cerebus in Hell? issue: Cerebus in Jail, continues with the Weekly Strip. Follow along on Instagram
  • Thursday: Margaret has posted ALL of Albatross One. (If you click that link, you can see all the pages of the notebook, OR, you can get a PHYSICAL copy here.) And all of The Last Notebook. Now she's gonna burn through all of Notebook #21. So sit back and get ready for pages and pages and pages of walls of handwritten text... This week,  unused material that didn't end up in Reads!
  • Friday: that's this post. You're reading the Friday post right now. This is STILL like that bit in Spaceballs. (Should I link to LAST WEEK'S Update in these things?)
Okay, so that was the last week on AMOC. You're welcome.

Proofreading poetry Pt 2 (Dave's weekly update #587)

Hi, Everybody!

Like it says on the Logo:
The little bit on the bottom there...

It's Friday, so that means:
Dave's Weekly Update:

Darrell's books can be ordered here.
____________________
Longtime AMOC readers may remember back in September when I needed help with a fundraiser for my daughter's middle school dance team. Well, she's back with a fundraiser for her HIGH SCHOOL Dance team.

So, she's got a calendar for May. Thirty-one squares, you pay the date. So, as an example, Dave Sim's birthday: May 17th would "cost" seventeen bucks.

Last time I offered prints of Dave's Taylor Swift pieces he did for my kids:
I have a few sets left...

But, I'm fairly certain that the people who would be willing to chip in ALREADY did last time, and have these. So, I'm thinking of what I could offer... All I can think of is my rejected Turtles card idea:

No idea if I'll do it as a regular card size, or postcard size, or what. More as I make up my damn mind...

BUT that's not all:
The school board gives the dance team $4000 for the year. The team (of 21 girls) has expenses of $9100+. So each kid needs to find a Sponsor.

Sponsors get their name/logo on the team's banner (that is at every game they dance at), and on the Fan shirt.

My (lame) employer MIGHT give me the two hundred bucks minimum they're looking for.

I THOUGHT of asking Dave and getting the AV logo on there, but sponsoring a team of mostly underage girls? I can hear the "NO!" from here.

Then I thought, how about a small "local" business. I could ask MJ Sewall if he wanted to pay $200 to get the Alfies Fish & Chips (610 N H St, Lompoc, CA) logo on there...
But he's a small business owner during his busiest time of year, and how does advertising on the banner of a local high school dance team located two thousand two hundred and forty-eight miles away help his business at all? (I mean, I think it'd be funny...)

Then I thought of getting the brave and loyal AMOCteers to chip in and get the AMOC logo on there...

But: Which one?

But, then I thought, what about a treat for the long-suffering members of the Little Orphan Aardvark Secret Society, and get Aardvark on there:
And then I thought about it, and what would be AMAZING is to get brave and loyal Cerebus fans to chip in and get THIS on there:
Click for bigger

SO, if we can raise AT LEAST Two Hundred American dollars, I'll get this onto my kids dance team banner AND the fan shirts along with a bunch of other loser's logos.

AND I'll make Pud's Tavern merch on the AMOC TeePublic Shoppee.

If you want to make this dream a reality, shoot an email to momentofcerebus@gmail.com titled "Pud's Tavern" and how much you're willing to give, and I'll let you know where/how to get me the money.

Anyway,

Permanent Smoke (Dave's weekly update #478)

Hi, Everybody!

Welcome back to AMOC where we TCOB about TMNT8.

First up, Iguana, how's that Big Board looking?
Sexy.

And since we're "All Turtles 8, All the Time!" Here's
Dave's Weekly Update:

You can go to Darrell's website, but all the books aren't there. Bezos has 'em, though...

(So, there was a bit of a miscommunication between Dave and CerebusOnline. But NEXT week, I swear!) ((No, REALLY!))

So, where to begin with the avalanche of faxes I've gotten from Dave...

Oh, I know! Heritage!
If you got Money, and don't wanna "do" the KickstarterHeritage has ALL sorts of TMNT/Cerebus goodies (click for the biggerness):
Kevin Eastman, Peter Laird, and Dave Sim Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #8 Story Page 44 Original Art (Mirage Studios, 1986).

I mean, why buy a REMASTERED REPRINT of issue #8, when for a fuckload more, you can get ONE page. Just one. (I mean the other 44 don't have such great shots of Renet's "balcony you can do Shakespeare from"...)

Dave Sim - Cerebus and TMNT Raphael Illustration Original Art (undated).

I mean, why buy a COPY of this cover when for a fuckload more, you can get the original that's been BREATHED on by Dave Sim!!!

I mean why buy a COLOURED copy of this cover, when for a (say it with me now!) FUCKLOAD more, you can get the original and some crayons (crayons not included in the auction.) and DO! IT! YOURSELF!!!

I mean, why buy a COLOURED copy of this when for a FUCK(wait for it...)LOAD more you can get the original (that has a better version of Renet's "balcony you can do Shakespeare from". Sorry Birdsong...) Plus the knockers on the back...

I mean, FUCK the Turtles. Here's a piece of Cerebus History. And it's even signed. And PERSONALIZED (as long as your name is George. Ah, fuck it, you can change your name. "Cerebus Fangirl George Liss" just ROLLS off the tongue...)

Dave Sim and Gerhard Cerebus the Aardvark #272 Cover / Page Element Illustration Original Art (Aardvark-Vanaheim, 2001).

Oy. I mean, surely only a total putz would pass up on a chance to own an original Rabbi with a Gerhard commissioned background. This one is ALMOST affordable...

Anyway, there's a BUNCH of Eastman TMNT stuff in this Auction.

But back to:

Dave faxed:
Zombies. It worked once...

Cover "B" *NOT FINISHED ART*

I faxed to Dave that since the Spawn #10 KS was around Halloween, Zombies made sense. But since this one is around St. Patrick's Day, everybody should be leprechauns, or zombie leprechauns, or zombies fighting leprechauns.

Radio silence from Kitchener on THAT idea...

SO, MARK YOUR CALENDARS. MARCH 15TH! Zombie everybody cover 24 hour Flash sale. (On, I guess the Kickstarter. NOT some other weirdo site. No Grandma/Not Grandma variants (and they say you can't teach an old Canadian new tricks...))

(I ALSO suggested he do these as prints and not covers, but nobody listens to me...)

AND, the Waverly Press is still doing the Art Card Contest:
Details as I know them.
  • They're producing a card set called "Visions of Turtles 8" with art by lots of cool folks. (Maybe even me!)
  • They are looking for members of the Cerebus community to submit their own art ideas for a trading card that will be included in the set.
  • Dave Sim is one of the judges. Our man at the Waverly Press is the other.
  • Winner gets 50 copies of their card, and "a package of fun stuff including a platinum T8 ashcan"
  • Contest runs until Friday, March 24th at midnight.
  • Submit your entries to momentofcerebus@gmail.com
So far, I've gotten ONE entry...

Okay, more faxes from Dave tomorrow (there are a significant number of them...)

ROLL THE RIGAMAROLE!!!!!!
