Please Hold For Dave Sim 4/2025 part 2

Hi, Everybody!

Keep Holding For Dave Sim & ME!
Click for bigger

Dave and I didn't get in to it, but this strip is a variation on a glamourpuss pitch I never wrote. The idea was a five page strip, where each page was written by another writer (ala Spawn #8-11). And the Alan Moore page was a wall of text with a photorealistic woman and Cerebus standing there making the same jokes I have here. The Neil Gaiman page was "Medieval glamourpuss" (a Renaissance Fair girl, basically), I don't remember the Dave Sim page idea, or the Frank Miller one (probably a girl in a trenchcoat, from a paperback cover or something...). For this one, instead of overwriting a script myself, I just grabbed the script to the first ten pages of Batman: The Killing Joke, and removed all the page directions besides "page one, panel one".

Anyway recap & notes
Part 1: Jen won't toot her own horn here, but I don't give a shit, I DO WHAT I WANT! But, she has a one woman show: Woman in the Arena she's gonna be doing in Scotland in August as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. So, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, feel free to go see my friend do her thing. If you DO, and you say "SWORDFISH" to her after the performance, she'll call me up and bitch me out RIGHT IN FRONT of you! But seriously, go support my friend. (More dates and locations as she becomes a phenomenon(?)...)
Michael R. of Easton, PA (address available upon request unless Zipper pays the Ransom...) won a Guys Prize. One of the Best Ones too.

The Bastard.

(I kid Zipper, I kid...)

Congratulations.
I can't remember if Larry "Spatula" Wooten won a Guys Prize, but he did used to dress up as the Moon Roach. I presume for kid's birthday parties and such. Because in the 80s, nothing said "Happy Birthday Jenny!" like a stranger dressed in a black leotard entering your house thru a window and smashing your cake onto the floor while screaming "UNORTHODOX ECONOMIC REVENGE!" at the top of their lungs.

In other news, the restraining order against Spatula finally expired and he can legally go back to that Showbiz Pizza Place... unfortunately, they went out of business in 1994...

If YOU want me to dredge through your social media feeds for photos I can easily turn compromising and put on AMOC, then send your Jeff Seiler memories to momentofcerebus@gmail.com and I'll get to you in a future Please Hold For Dave Sim

Part 2: If you really wanna read Out of the Depths #1, Margaret may have posted it to the Official Cerebus Facebook Group. I mean just because I can't find it, doesn't mean it's not there... Not on Facebook, make a profile. Your name is "Fred Hammer" and you work  at "Self-employed". We'll accept any variations on the name you think up "Ferd Hammer" "Fred Hamner" "Susan Blumquist" whatever...

Part 3: AL Nickerson can be bought. (Well, his books can be.) And you can stare at the Original Sim portfolio here (which has the wrong backstory, sorry.)

Part 4: Dave got the same Cerebus ornaments I got:

Part 5: MJ Sewall, author and restauranter, asked about The Beavers, and you can find the strips I used in the video (AND MORE) at Jeff Tundis' Art of Dave Sim site. Along with even more Dave Art that's NOT Cerebus, like this piece:
Speaking of How's Your Beaver? The Highway Book Shop closed in 2011, and is apparently "abandoned". I found a copy of How's Your Beaver? for $7, plus four times that for shipping. Should be here in a week.

Part 6: @creative_fey got her version of last month's questions and answers from Dave done, and I forgot to link it. It can be found here. And this month's is here?

And the second half:
Part 7: Nic and Ray bring two new possible digital distributors to Dave attention.
Part 8: Dion won a prize, And Michael R. has a question about the Wilf Jenkins Collection:

And if you REALLY want to see if the Wilf Jenkins Collection is gone, you could contact Lookin' For Heroes...

I'm still on yesterday's post, but I had to stop in and say that is the biggest Kate Bush poster I have ever seen. Someone was a big fan.

Yeah... DC won't even get back to me about any due royalties.

A better website (of mine) to purchase THE SWORD OF EDEN graphic novels: www.theswordofeden.com

You’ve no idea how much joy seeing my name CORRECTLY spelled brings me. And it wasn’t even “autocorrected” to Vic either

DRM stands for Digital Rights MANAGEMENT (not media). It’s effectively a bit of code in the digital files that restricts access to the digital media so that they can only be used, issued, etc on “licensed platforms/services.” In effect, you NEVER own the digital item (like you would a physical piece of media such as a comic book or an LP) and at any time your “right” to possess/use this digital media can be revoked.

Picture this: you’ve bought a digital copy of “A Hard Day’s Night” from Amazon Prime. You watch it. It’s glorious and wonderful. Several years to buy. You go to watch it again on your smartTV via the Prime app… and now it’s not there. Amazon has instead inserted a place card informing you that the digital file you “purchased” is now long gone. You have lost the right to now view it.

Or.

You bought a Beatles album on mp4 via iTunes and now want to listen to it on NOT your iPhone (which tragically broke due to a toddler incident. Very sad). You go to upload the file to a none Apple player… and it doesn’t work.

DRM Free liberates us from such corporatist bullshit.
