Tackling the opioid crisis, just say no! (Dave's Weekly Update #220)

Hi, Everybody!

Heeeeeere's Dave:

And then there's this:
OFF-WHITE HOUSE LEAK!

Kitchener, ON--A Moment Of Cerebus has learned, according to a high-placed source who is familiar with the matter and who is speaking on the condition of anonymity, that Dave Sim will, within the next few months, begin putting up for auction Off-White House Black Boxes.

According to the source, the so-called Black Boxes, each with an official Off-White House label affixed, will be auctioned at an online auction house that has not yet been determined.

"I have been told by Mr. Sim that it is up to me to determine the best, most user-friendly auction house to utilize, so I will be doing the due diligence soon," said the anonymous source.

The source went on to say that each Black Box will contain ten of the rarest, but not necessarily earliest, Off-White House back issues of Cerebus.  Each bagged and boarded copy will have been signed by Mr. Sim, with the initials OWH added.  The source added that only copies of Cerebus that are in the Off-White House collection will be contained in the Black Boxes.

The anonymous source added that more information will be forthcoming, if the source obtains clearance to speak to the matter further.
Yeah...so, stay tuned and stuff...

Next time: More from "Debbie Does Dallas" as it comes in... (I feel dirty. I'ma gonna go take a shower until NEXT Friday... )

However, my own personal favourite all-time AMOC post is without question Sandeep Atwal's "I Knew Dave Sim..." from June 2012 - a great insight into what "evil" Dave Sim is really like. What's your own favourite AMOC post? Do you even have one? Let me know in the comments. Thanks!

The Great Cerebus Givaway At The Kitchener Comic-Con

The Great Cerebus Giveaway
At The Kitchener Comic Con
2 April 2016
ANTHONY KUCHAR:
Here are some pictures of Sandeep and Dave Fisher at Kitchener Comic Con meeting with the public and handing out lots of comics. You won't believe how people's faces light up when you say "Hey, sir/miss. Would you like some free comics". There almost afraid, like it might be some a trick or something.

Afterwards we went back to the storage unit and Dave Sim came in and met with us. What a great guy! He signed a bunch comics for me and gave all of us copies of Collected Letters 2004 (which I was missing).

On the way home my dad (guy in high visibility coat) said "Anthony, you know Dave Sim is a real class act".

Thanks, Dave.

10,000 CEREBUS ARCHIVE FIRST RELEASE GOLD SEALS

DAVE SIM:
We're getting geared up for the MARATHON or Marathon or "marathon" FREE CEREBUS giveaway at Kitchener Comic Con April 2.  10,000 certificates of authenticity, 10,000 bags and boards being picked up from Wes' WAREHOUSE OF WONDERS tomorrow and I just got the phone message from Sterling Marking Products that the 10,000 gold seals have arrived.

How many free comic books can you give away and how fast can you give them away?

Sandeep and Fisher will find out (God willing) April 2nd.

PS:  Thanks to everyone who's signed the petition in the last week! And to Kitchener Comic Con for running a request on their website.  This is EASILY the biggest surge since Carma Chan, Oliver's significant other, decided she was going to get all 2,000 in one "go" a few years back.  She definitely got around 20 just on her own.  Anything more than 1 or 2 a month is definitely a hockey stick curve.

Tim? Are you home from work yet?

The reason that I ask is that the gold seals from the last order were "dull gold" (the most recent bonus prints) and this batch is -- like the first batch -- "bright gold".  Can you scan yours and post the images attached to this post?

XXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
CIBC Trust Corporation

Hi XXXXXX!

Since XXXXXXXXX is going to be charging for his services from the moment I engage him, I thought I would send you this draft of my letter to him to see if there's anything that I've left out of what the "bare bones" Last Will & Testament should include.

Fax # here is 519-576-0955.

Let me know the next time you're going to be in town and I'll give you a tour of the Off-White House!

Sincerely,

Dave Sim

PS: I'll be posting this to the A MOMENT OF CEREBUS website with your name "xxxxxx"ed out to make sure everyone is "on board" with all developments right from the outset.

=========================

xx October 15

Dear XXXXXXXX:

I got your name from your grade-school crossing guard compatriot, xxxxxxxxxxxxx at CIBC/Hamilton, who is presently creating THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION on my behalf.

It is his suggestion that we need to begin the process with a "bare bones" Last Will & Testament (I am presently intestate) specifying that I intend to leave all of my material assets and possessions to THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION inclusive of:

1) my publishing company, AARDVARK-VANAHEIM INCORPORATED which:
a) is the beneficiary of my Manulife Life Insurance policy No. xxxxxx . (There is no other beneficiary)

b) owns the Off-White House, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx repository of THE CEREBUS ARCHIVE (documenting chronologically, 1968 to the present, the pre-history and history of both Aardvark-Vanaheim and my 6,000-page graphic novel, CEREBUS); periodicals, books, audio and video recordings about CEREBUS; published and unpublished examples of my pre-CEREBUS and post-CEREBUS creative works

b) includes its CIBC business chequing account #xxxxxx CDN$ #xxxxxx US$

c) is the sole owner of cerebusdownloads.com and Patreon.com CEREBUS digital sales portals

d) owns the CEREBUS INVENTORY housed at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in Kitchener

e) owns all of my original artwork 1970-to-date (stored at xxxxx location)

f) owns the Comics Guaranty Corporation encapsulated "Dave Sim File Copies" of the early CEREBUS issues stored in safety-deposit box #xxxxx at CIBC King and Queen Streets in Kitchener
2) My personal effects and possessions contained in the RESIDENCE portion at the rear of THE OFF-WHITE HOUSE
a) my personal RRSPs under management by the CIBC
To specify in my Last Will & Testament:

1) the CIBC will serve as Executor of my Estate and Administrator of THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION

2) THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION will be fully "donate-able" in perpetuity by those wishing to participate in sustaining it financially

3) THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION will have as its mission statement
a) to preserve all of the above in as close to the state in which they existed at the time of my death as possible

b) to allow access to the premises at XXX XXXXXXX Street, with appropriate security precautions, to interested CEREBUS fans after my death

c) to donate a minimum of 10% of all assets accrued in each fiscal year to ST. JOHN'S KITCHEN and THE FOOD BANK OF WATERLOO REGION or successor charities having comparable "feed the poor" mission statements
Further, that the administration of THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION -- both before and after my death --is to include optimal transparency at the A MOMENT OF CEREBUS website created by and wholly owned by Tim Wxxxxxxxxx London, England (or successor CEREBUS website if AMOC ceases to exist at some point).

(that is, that all correspondence between myself and you and and all other participants on the subject of THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION will be deemed excluded from the traditional attorney-client privilege)

with all adjustments and tweaks to THE CEREBUS FOUNDATION taking the form of "codicils" to my Last Will & Testament.

A lot of meat, for a "bare bones" document, as I'm sure you'll agree.

Sincerely,

Dave Sim,
president
AARDVARK-VANAHEIM Inc.
