If you're havin' girl problems, I feel bad for you, son I got '82 problems, but a aardvark ain't one...

Hi, Everybody!

Forty-nine bucks. You're gonna pay $49CAD today.

Today, $49CAD is $35.49USD...

Go nuts! (It's not gonna be $25CAD for almost a month...)

As we do:

Mondays!

So, Dave's Please PAY For Dave Sim deal, whereupon you, the viewer/listener, have to go to CerebusDownloads and donate to the content you want to hear Dave talk about, either Please Hold For Dave Sim or his "notes" (more like his deconstruction of) the 1982 Tour  Book, is still rolling along. Eddie the Successor sent me the latest update of what's winning.

I pointed out that I was pretty sure Christon wanted his money to go to Please Hold.
I'a told ya.

So Eddie the Successor went back to the drawing board and sent the correct numbers:

One of Dave's ideas (if you haven't been following along) is to do side-by-side comparisons of The New Mutants movie and The New Mutants: The Demon Bear Saga comic to show which panels were translated to which scenes in the movie. He also proposes doing that with the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie and the original Turtles comic, and Sin City.

I'm not doing any of that.
  1. Because I don't own the Demon Bear Saga. (Dave does, Jeff Seiler bought it for Dave and sent it to him.) (Dave also has a digital copy of the movie...)
  2. That, and I CAN NOT stress this enough, "sounds like woik"...
  3. Given the recent headaches on the Cerebito Spanish translation of Cerebus #1 and Spawn #10 Kickstarter (where Todd McFarlane Productions sent a Takedown notice for copyright violations) (Which have been resolved.) (I know you were losing sleep over it...) (As they said:
  4. Hi there,

This is a message from Kickstarter’s Trust and Safety team. We’re writing to let you know that a project you were interested in — CEREBUS #1 & Dave Sim's Version of SPAWN DIEZ en Español — has been reinstated. The process for this project’s intellectual property dispute is complete. No further action is required on your part.

Please note that the project’s deadline (the day your pledge will be collected) has changed.

    New project deadline
    Mon, May 18 2026 11:00 am EDT

    Time remaining
    successful

You can visit the project here.

    Best wishes,
    Kickstarter Trust and Safety)
I don't think messing around with anybody else's I.P. is a "Good idea worth pursuing..."
     4. It's been done(?)
I used to own a copy...

See? Panel from the comic, how the shot looked at filming, how the shot looked after they did the  digital "magic"... I think there's a whole bunch of that in there if I remember right... That's what I think Dave's thinking.

I bought another copy, and am gonna send it to Dave. Maybe he can pull a couple of examples of what he's thinking out of it and I won't have to do "woik" I don't wanna do...

Anyway, if you wanna hear Dave answer the questions that have been sitting there waiting since...March I think, go and donate to Please Hold. But if you wanna make me eventually have to pay to download Juice Newton songs, go ahead and donate to 1982 Tour.
_____________________
As I said, I don't wanna watch a movie and try to determine which scenes are based off which panels (of a comic I don't own), I wanna do "fun stuff" like ink:

Such as the pencils to a Stan Sakai commission Josh Even bought that Josh posted on Facebook:
Click for bigger, if that's your thing...

Or Jack Kirby's pencils to a Demon drawing:
Ditto.

Josh is getting the Usagi/Cerebus/Turtle piece, but if you want me desecrating The King in your hot little hands, shoot me an email at momentofcerebus@gmail.com, and I'll happily entertain any offers...

And here's Mr. Sakai's finished version:

And here's something that crossed my "desk":
By Alex "Box Office Poison" Robinson
___________
I'm BEGGING ya, please help a brudda out...

The CAN13/Ninja High School Cerebus #2&3/Cerebus in Hell? numbers 87 (Cerebus in Jail?) and 88 (The Pun Issuer Groan Zone)/CAN29(sorta) Kickstarter.

Next Time: Jen had a three day weekend. That means I'll be posting...

Saturday, 9 May 2026

In October of '82, I was three, and didn't Hold nothin'!

Hi, Everybody!
Dave has things on Heritage. These are FROM the Cerebus Archive, and Dave (eventually) gets ALL the money (minus the fees and whatnot. Plus he won't believe it until the money crosses his hand... *NOT* my first "Dave waiting to be paid" rodeo...):
Cerebus #239 19 pages of Original Art Ended. Sold for $26,000 ($32,500 with buyer's premium...)

Dave sent things:
The Cerebus the Aardvark #1 (and Spawn #10) en Español had an Art Show...down in Mexico:

And Dave's 70th Birthday Spectacular is off to a good start:

A really good start:

An Update-ish on the newest CAN/CiH? Kickstarter :

And then since you guys would rather I relive the repressed memories of my childhood...:

And we're doing the "pay for Play" again for next month. If we're doing Please Hold next month Dave is giving Everybody! an option: He'll either work on Please Hold for May June, or his notes on the '82 Tour Book. YOU can decide which he does by donating at CerebusDownloads. There are two buttons, if you want Please Hold, donate with the button labeled as such. If you want the '82 Tour Book, donate with the button labeled that. And if you want both, donate to both. (Dave never said what he'd do if there was a tie...) If you have a question, send it in to momentofcerebus@gmail.com AND throw a couple of bucks Dave's way by clicking the "Please Hold For Dave Sim" button. Or else it's MORE '82 for you...

Off-White House Bulletin 4/9/2026

Hi, Everybody!

Mondays!

Dave sent a new Off-White House Bulletin:

And I asked Eddie about the..."contest"(?), "competition"(?), "deal"(?)... between Please Hold and the '82 Tour Book, one of which Dave will be discussing next month. YOU can decide which by donating to one of them buy clicking here, which will take you to CerebusDownloads, where you can click the button either labeled "Please Hold for Dave Sim" or "Dave Sim 82 Tour Book"  and donate to whichever (or both, no one can stop you) you want Dave to talk about next month. I'm making the videos either way...

Anyway, he said:

ANNDDDD….THEY’RE OFF! RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE, PLEASE-HOLD-FOR-DAVE-SIM AND TOUR-DIARY ’82 ARE BOTH LOOKING STRONG!  STARTING DONATION BY MATT DOW SPLIT EQUALLY PUTS THEM NECK AND NECK! COMING ROUND THE FIRST BEND, AND WE HAVE ANOTHER EQUAL DONATION! REPEAT! ANOTHER EQUALLY SPLIT DONATION FOR $10 BY A DONOR! YOU CAN FEEL THE EXCITEMENT BUZZING IN THE AIR HERE AT THE KITCHENER RACE TRACK!

BOTH HORSES ON EVEN FOOTING NOW, KEEPING THE PACE AND YOU CAN SEE THE RIDERS TAKING EACH OTHER’S MEASURE, FOCUSSING ON...WE HAVE A $50 DONATION FOR ’82 TOUR DIARY!! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, ’82 HAS PULLED AWAY AND TAKEN THE LEAD!  PLEASE-HOLD IS FALLING BEHIND AS ’82 NOW GAINS THE ADVANTAGE!

BUT WHAT’S THIS? A $28 DONATION FOR PLEASE-HOLD! FOLLOWED BY A $10 DONATION FOR PLEASE-HOLD! NEVER IN MY 5 MINUTES OF RACE-TRACK ANNOUNCING HAVE I WITNESSED SUCH SPIRIT, SUCH ATHLETICISM, SUCH GRACE, SUCH ACHIEVEMENT OF THE HUMAN (OR AARDVARKIAN) SPIRIT!! WILL PLEASE-HOLD BE ABLE TO CATCH-UP IN TIME BEFORE THE END OF THE FIRST SESSION? THE CROWD IS ON THE EDGE OF THEIR SEATS!

COMING ROUND THE BEND NOW, ’82 TOUR DIARY STILL IN THE LEAD BUT PLEASE-HOLD TRYING HARD TO CATCH UP, AS BOTH HORSES ARE LOCKED INTO THEIR STEADY GALLOPS IN A RACE THAT COULD GO EITHER… A $5 DONATION FOR ’82!! JUST AS IT CROSSES THE FIRST HURDLE!

THAT’S $62(CDN) FOR TOUR-DIARY ’82 AND $45(CDN) FOR PLEASE-HOLD AT THE FIRST INTERMISSION!!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE’LL BE BACK FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THIS EXCITING RACE AFTER A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR: DIGIACOMO LUGGAGE: “WHEN YOU CAN’T TELL IF YOU’RE COMING OR GOING, MAKE SURE YOU DO IT IN STYLE...”

Well, it could go either way, kinda depends on you guys and gals...

So, go to the Downloads and back the horse you wanna hear/see win.

And if you're a "Please Holder", Dave has all the questions I sent for April, so if that was you, he has them, but anybody else can get in on this by sending in your questions to momentofcerebus@gmail.com. And backing the Please Hold horse, or else you're just pissing in the wind...

Living the Line's next Kickstarter has TWENTY-ONE pages of The Strange Death of Alex Raymond in it. These are pages Dave has drawn since the wrist started working again. Is goood...

And the Tyrant Kickstarter!

And I was asked: "Scott Palochik & Dreamscape Publishing has the 4th issue of MARCVS live on Kickstarter now. If you could kindly put it up on the Rigamole, it would be greatly appreciated."

Next Time: Jen's living the High Life, I'm down here doing all the dirty work...

Please Hold For Dave Sim 4/2026? I mean it FEELS like I please held...

Hi, Everybody!

For the April 2026 installment, Please Hold finally lives up to it's name!

Dave has decided that with the Cerebus #1 (and Spawn #10) in Spanish Kickstarter launched, and the CAN13/CiH? Kickstarter "on deck", he's either going to do Please Hold in May, or he'll work on going through the 1982 Tour Book for its Kickstarter.

How he's going to decide is up to YOU!
If you wanna hear Please Hold, donate here. (The button on the left labeled Please Hold)
If you want Dave to work on the '82 Tour Book, donate here. (The button on the right labeled Dave Sim 82 tour Book)
It's like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Book...but with money. YOUR money. I can't say I blame Dave, he puts in three plus hours recording these things, and it's not like he can live "high on the hog" off of the money he gets selling comics, because he doesn't have a distributor anymore... (I mean, I put in two or three days assembling these things, and all I get is "more work" (It's one of my favorite lines from Weekend At Bernie's: the two protagonists are discussing their jobs, and the one says to the other, "My old man worked hard. Ya know what they gave him? More work.") Not that I'm complaining. I LOVE the little gray bastard, and spending all of my free time doing this keeps me off the streets... Plus there's "fringe benefits"...) So, Dave asking for a little something something to do this isn't unreasonable. (It's probably my fault for getting annoyed with him about the '82 Tour Book NOT launching on Kickstarter in February.)

Audio:

Video:

Part 1: Dave explains how next month is going to go. '82 Tour Book (right). Please Hold. (left)

Part 2: An example of how Dave's '82 Tour Book (right) work will sound

Anyway, while Dave waits for us to decide what we wanna Hold for, he checks the mail...

Part 3: The box I sent him showed up. And I KNEW the Trade wouldn't work, but "hope springs Eternal"...

Part 4: Dave talks The Strange Death of Alex Raymond, and how it got in that Humble Bundle (he doesn't know, but I suspect Sean.) and how it got in Consigned, Living the Line's new Kickstarter

Part five: Dave got a message from George Peter Gatsis at CerebusDownloads, that explains how the downloads work. Basically, if a new version of a phonebook shows up, you can click the link you first got and redownload the new version
Part 6: Dave talks more about working on the Strange Death of Alex Raymond (He's drawn pages 555-702. Pages 587-593 were included in issue #68 of Yeet Presents, and page 604 was a Bonus Print on CAN12. Which 21 pages are in  Consigned, Living the Line's new Kickstarter? Why don't you back it and find out Spunky?)

Part 7: Dave got Chris Woerner's latest books in:
Part eight: Dave has an offer to Dustin Adrian, an artist and comic store employee who lost everything in a fire
The link on Dustin's name goes to the GoFundMe his sister set up (I gave $20USD), if you wanna send something like Dave suggested, Rolly told me "At this time Dustin is looking for donations to the gofundme website only." But if you wanna ignore that and send Dustin something physical, the address  Rolly also sent me (in the same email...)
Dustin Adrian
C/O Heroes Comics
186 Dundas St
London, ON, Canada
N6A 1G7

Okay, if you want me to have to spend days locked in the Please Hold Editing Suite delicately assembling the finest entertainment you've been getting for free once a month since November 2019 (excepting those time's Dave was sick, or something came up. Hey! It was FREE!), turn to page 37
And if you want me to have to spend days locked in the Please Hold Editing Suite desperately hoping the bits Dave's talking about are in the last digital version of the '82 Tour Book I was sent (see: "Fringe Benefits"), and weren't changed for the print version I was sent (see: "Fringe Benefits"), turn to page 42
(See, I said it was just like a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book!)
No idea what Dave's gonna do if there's a tie and Everybody! donates equally to each Fund.
I mean, I have to work on 'em either way...
That's right Beer...

Please Hold For Dave Sim 3/2026

Hi, Everybody!

Videos:

Part 1: Dave discusses his issues with the 82 Tour Book. And AV's upcoming Kickstarter plans.

Part 2: Dave's thoughts on my Eisner Awards "merch", and updates on SDOAR, CiH?, and other projects.

Part 3: A Facebook Round-up of questions/comments from; Joe Vecchio, Michael Norwitz, Theadore Trout, Spatula (AKA Larry Wooten), and James BandAid-Smith

Part 4: Al Nickerson sent Dave a letter,

Part 5: Mario Botte has a couple of questions
Part 6: Dave gives a shoutout to the hardest working man in Cerebus comics: David Birdsong. And finishes answering Mario Botte's questions. Then Dave speculates on Steve Swenson's question about how Cerebus #1 was pitched.
Part 7: April C. has questions
Part: 8: Michael R. is interested in cheaper Cerebus in Hell? issues
Audio (Why I still do this when EVERY DAMN month they somehow enshitify their "service" more, I'll never goddamn know...)

And as Dave asked, if you enjoy the Please Hold For Dave Sim and have a couple extra bucks, there's this feature at CerebusDownloads where you can donate $1, $5, or $10 Canadian to Dave (you might have to scroll down to find the buttons since they revamped the site since the last time I went there...). Which he could use since Aardvark Vanaheim isn't getting  regular cash from them since Diamond went out of business. I don't have a tip cup, but I'm doing okay, so you don't need to worry about me... (And, yeah, I suspect a little more "PBS Pledge Drive" at the end of these things from now on...)

And you may as well start getting your questions in for next month, since these things seem to be coming faster and faster: momentofcerebus@gmail.com
