Wait, copying a check is illegal?

Hi, Everybody!

From the depths of the AMOCHIVE, I bring you the fourth excerpt from “Time Machine and a coat hanger!” The Making of glamourpuss #25/ Zootananpuss #4, page 9*:

(For those that are coming in fresh, part 1, part 2, part 3.)

So, continuing:
I sent this pitch to Dave in a fax and didn’t hear back from him at all.

I figured this one was another dud until one Friday when I was watching SimTeeVee on YouTube.

Episode 108 was playing and I thought some of the images looked familiar. Especially when I saw this:
“What the Hell? That’s Iguana” I said to myself.

And then I saw this:
“The Adventures of Bi-Curious Avril Lavigne?”

“What the Balls…”

So I called Dave up and left a message that pretty much said that either I made the issue or this was a really sick April Fool’s Day joke.

Dave called me back and said that it wasn’t a joke. And he explained some of the changes he had made to the script (which are kinda documented on page 9 of glamourpuss #25) (You all have copies right? *hint* *hint*). And he told me he was sending me fifteen copies of the book and a check for twenty-five bucks.

SCORE!

When the package arrived, Dave had also included the tracing paper page he had used in the production of the actual page and his photo reference AND a page where he had worked out the dialogue for his bits. THAT WAS HAND-LETTERED:

How cool is that?

Here are some of the changes he made. Compare them to the finished copy:

And:
Which means I almost got only 20 bucks, SCORE again!

“Okay, so what the deal with Mouse Skull Productions?” I hear the more astute of you asking?

No idea. It’s been Mouse Skull Entertainment since I first started doing mini-comics in 2005. Why it’s “Mouse Skull Productions” in glamourpuss #25/ zootanapuss #4, I have no idea. I’ve been telling people that it’s because Mouse Skull Productions is the cheap Canadian knock-off of Mouse Skull Entertainment.

Well, there ya go. My fifteen minutes of fame (relatively speaking.)

To be fair, this was written BEFORE Tim vacated the premises and handed AMOC over to me...

Will there be more Matt Dow-written glamourpuss? Probably not.

Dave cancelled the book with issue #26. And unless he gets a hankering for me to do some more, I don’t think I’ll be in the pages of another Aardvark-Vanaheim funnybook soon.

And Vark Wars and Vark Wars: Walt's Empire Strikes Back happened...

That’s not to say I don’t have any ideas. Pitch #4 was inspired by an issue of Vogue I bought with Rooney Mara in it.

“The Girl With The Aardvark Tattoo.” I got some pictures of her and a half-finished script, but it’s not quite there.

I decided that since the source material was originally in Swedish, that my script should be in Swedish Chef Swedish (ya know, “bork-a bork-a bork-a”).

Maybe I’ll finish up “Der Fröken Mit Der Åardvarken Tattöö” someday.

And there’s a fifth pitch, but the less said about THAT one the better.

Thanks for buying…er, reading!

Matt Dow

Yes, this was written as a mini-comic sized little book that I was going to sell. But I felt it needed a little something extra, and never produced it. (Although I did fax it to Dave and got back a bunch of corrections...)

And here's the art:

Here it is from in the "Hallway of Solitude"

And the art...
It's not the actual check for $25 bucks, I made a copy...

Spider-Whore

The Amicable Spider-Vark is in stores, which is the lead in to Spider-Whore, which was SUPPOSED to be the immediate sequel, but Batvark: PENIS ended up taking Spider-Whore's slot when COVID-19 threw everything up into the air.

Speaking of Spider-Vark, A Moment of Cerebus is facilitating Aardvark/Vanaheim's auctioning of a signed copy of the mis-stapled The Amicable Spider-Vark #1. Bidding is at $125 American dollars (plus shipping) to Jeff Seiler. I'm ending this today. If Rich wants to top Jeff he's got til midnight to let me know..

Cerebus masks and whatnots with all the money going to Dave. I'll be adding the Cerebus in Hell? 4 Sale stuff soon...

If you missed the Kickstarter for Dave and Carson Grubaugh's You Don't Know Jack, there's an Indiegogo, which is going to be ending at some point. So, go go Indy.

If you missed the Waverly Press Kickstarter for the Remastered Cerebus #1, limited overflow of the rewards are available at cerebusoverload.com.

And Dave's calling on Thursday, so get your questions in to momentofcerebus@gmail.com.

Next Time: Hobbs, and not me...
