Boy howdy, you sure can't beat Dave at the top of his game, huh? Purty.

Agreed. This is sweet.

Thank you! It was amazing how long it took for me to be able to "do Neal" the way I saw him in my head and the way I could see him in the better quality b&w reproductions of his work that I owned in various fanzines. "I can SEE it -- why can't I DO it?" Because genius is genius and hard worker is just hard worker.

i.e. the cover of CEREBUS No.39 isn't anywhere NEAR as good as I thought it was when I did it. This is TWENTY-FOUR YEARS later. Eleven years after that? The Roach's right leg is a little weak compared to the rest of the figure. Not QUITE Neal. But, nice try... "kid". :)

This piece has hung on my wall almost since the day it arrived in the mail (It took a few days to frame) eleven years ago. Thanks again, Dave!

Adam - Oh, I didn't know you commissioned it! How weird that TimW posts it the same week that you're in the Weekly Update. Unless you sent it to him. It's definitely the best "Neal" I ever did and, the situation being what it is, likely, the best "Neal" I will ever do.

Amazingly, Neal asked me about your condition. Not a terrible guy. Pretty nice guy, actually; at least, that day. And I didn't even buy any of his prints. But, he still let me sit down and talk with him.

Top five moments in comic fandom, for me.

Hanging with Ger is usually pretty good, too. I got kicked out (chose to leave?) when I accidentally entered Ger and Toondis' smoke-em-up fest.

Ah, cons.

Jeff - Yes, Gerhard and Jeff Tundis were always suckers for smoked salmon. Even (especially?) at conventions. Each to his own.

Heh. Smoked salmon. Yeah, I never could hold my smoked salmon.

Dave - Yup, it was me. You sent me prelims and everything. I was staggered when I saw the finished piece and felt vey honored when it was printed on the inside front cover of the Following Cereus issue featuring your interview with Mr. Adams.

Jeez, that was a long sentence.

Anyway, I love it!
