The A Moment of Cerebus COVID-19 Response:

A Moment of Cerebus is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our posters and helping our readers to do the same. As such, we are closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak according to the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). We want to share with you the actions we are taking to help protect our posters and readers. We're advising our posters to follow the public health authorities' guidance regarding hygiene and personal travel, and we’ve reinforced existing A Moment of Cerebus policy* encouraging employees who exhibit flu-like symptoms to stay home and consult with a medical professional. We’ve limited business travel and encouraged posters to leverage technology to hold business meetings whenever possible**. We encourage you to check our website often for updates on Cerebus, Dave Sim, and Gerhard related news. We appreciate the trust that you place in A Moment of Cerebus. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and take actions necessary to help keep our posters and readers safe while providing the updates on Dave Sim/Gerhard/Cerebus related phenomena.

*It's in the Handbook Hobbs...

**I mean, I haven't physically been in the presence of anybody who posts here, Dave or Gerhard in like ten years... So I think I'll be safe.

What can YOU do to Help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the end of all life on Earth as we know it?

Like Cerebus...

Clean your hands often

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds*** especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

*** I find singing the Theme from Flood by They Might Be Giants works pretty good...

Again, like Cerebus...

Avoid close contact

Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Again, again, like Cerebus...

Stay home if you’re sick

Stay home if you are sick, except to get medical care. Learn what to do if you are sick.

Like Cerebus...

Cover coughs and sneezes

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow.

Throw used tissues in the trash.

Immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, clean your hands with a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

The ax is optional...

Wear a facemask if you are sick

If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. If you are not able to wear a facemask (for example, because it causes trouble breathing), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room. Learn what to do if you are sick.

If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

And you thought Cerebus was just for entertainment...

Clean and disinfect

Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.

If surfaces are dirty, clean them: Use detergent or soap and water prior to disinfection.

To disinfect:

Most common EPA-registered household disinfectants will work. Use disinfectants appropriate for the surface.

Options include:
  • Diluting your household bleach.
    • To make a bleach solution, mix:
      • 5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water
      OR
      • 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Check to ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser. Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.
  • Alcohol solutions.
Ensure solution has at least 70% alcohol.
  • Other common EPA-registered household disinfectants.
Products with EPA-approved emerging viral pathogens pdf icon[7 pages]external icon claims are expected to be effective against COVID-19 based on data for harder to kill viruses. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for all cleaning and disinfection products (e.g., concentration, application method and contact time, etc.).

Also:

Remember to drink plenty of fluids...
If we all pull together, use basic hygiene, and keep our heads, we can Flatten the curve:
Basically, the dotted line is the level at which the healthcare systems can handle the pandemic. If the number of COVID-19 goes above it, we're screwed. So, if we can "flatten the curve" with preventative measures, less people will die.

Which you've probably seen all over social media, so here's a more niche version:

Basically, you want the COVID-19 cases to be the dead aardvark, not the one with the sword...
Okay, wash your hands, try not to touch your face, then (if you can) stay home and read Cerebus, and above all:

DON'T PANIC!

Next Time: Oliver goes out to get Twitter, so you don't have to...

I assume the CIH? Workaholic crew are probably overworked enough as it is already. That being said I think it would be a good idea, if it hasn't been done already by the crew.

Maybe Cerebus wears a safety mask or a hazmat suit? Again, I don't how feasible that is or what work and time would be needed to make that a reality. But, it could be worthwhile.
