As we do:
Mondays!
As you all should know by now (if you check A Moment of Cerebus more than once a month "to see if it's gotten good again..." (SPOLIER WARNING: still hasn't.).), Dave's CONTINUING the Please PAY For Dave Sim format. If you want more '82 Tour Book discussion, go HERE, and pay for "Dave Sim 82 Tour Book". But if you'd rather hear more stereotypical Please Hold (*shudder*) "content", go HERE and pay for "Please Hold For Dave Sim". Either way, I have to amuse myself in the Editing Suite assembling these things... (wanna find out how many of these I already own? Then you're gonna wanna pay for more '82...)
Until tomorrow night, you have a chance to swing the "vote" and donate for Please Hold. Otherwise '82 was winning, and I don't see that changing.
Which is a shame, because LAST month I thought Please Hold was winning, and sent the Faux to Dave which included this gem that we're NEVER gonna get answered because more money comes in from Debbie Gibson Fans:
About the Sim family of Kitchener
Hello,
Can you please forward this message to Mr Dave Sim ?
Hello Mr Sim,
I'm messaging you from France, and this message may sound a bit unusual to you — but please bear with me. I'm working with my father Bernard, who was born in a Normandy village called Tournai-sur-Dive. During World War II, this village lay at the very heart of the Falaise Pocket. As a child, my father was told that 2,000 Germans surrendered there to one Canadian soldier — and one alone. The Canadian's name was lost on the French side for decades. We have just discovered it: Major Gordon Drummond Sim of Kitchener, Ontario, who was killed near Boulogne-sur-Mer on 6 September 1944. So, you see me coming — are you by any chance related to this Gordon Sim?
His wife was Mildred Sybella Elizabeth Roedding. He died with no children. His father was David, his mother Cora. He had six brothers and one sister: William, David (Deputy Minister of National Revenue in Ottawa), Finlay (Secretary of Trade and Commerce), Charles (Salvation Army), Angus, Leslie. We have gathered many anecdotes about him and would be honoured to share them with his family.
With my warmest regards,
Ben Martin
I mean even if Dave isn't related, what's his reaction to the story gonna be? I guess we won't find out until he finishes his
I know Dave's dad was Ken Sim. I know he died. I wonder if I can find his obituary?
Whoa.
David SIM Obituary
SIM, David Alexander (Sandy)BCom (Carleton University), CPA, CA
April 6, 1926
November 30, 2019
David Alexander (Sandy) Sim passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019 in his 94th year. Dear husband and best friend of the late Dorothy Eleanor (Welch) Sim for 69 years. He was the son of the late David and Ada Sim and brother of the late Doris Sim. He was the proud father of Janet Sim (Ken Hood), Ellen (John Sheepway), Suzanne (James Stewart), David (Wendy Morton) and Elizabeth (Libby) (Louise Brewer). Loving grandpa of Scott (Meghan), Alison (Eric), Sarah (Brendan), Graham (Leslie), Julia, Andrew, Cameron (Shaylynn), Duncan, Andrew, Elizabeth and Isabelle, and great-grandpa of Angus, Mason, Miles, Camryn, James and Odin. Brother-in-law of Suzanne Welch, the late Marguerite McNally (Keith), and the late Lois Baker (Walter). Sandy was in the first Commerce graduating class of Carleton College (now University) in 1949. He then articled at Geo. A. Welch & Co. (now Welch LLP) and obtained his CA designation. He began his working career with Welch & Johnston Ltd. and then with Frontenac Auto Electric in Kingston. Returning to Ottawa, he was instrumental in the wind up of Welch & Johnston which had started business in 1920. After a brief retirement, he became Comptroller at Loch March Golf Club retiring after 25 years at age 85. Sandy and Dorothy were charter members and active volunteers at Kingsway United Church (now Kitchissippi United Church). He treasured his times with his pals at the Ottawa Hunt Club. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lisa Cross for her tremendous care and compassion for Dad these last few months, Dr. Cindy Wang for her care and support in his final days and the wonderful care from the Carlingwood Retirement Community.
Apparently "Dave Sim" is like the Canadian "John Smith"...
I think I found Seiler...

Fan art on a wall in New Haven Connecticut 2026
Greetings. This wall was painted by longtime fans of Sim and Gerhard. As I'm sure you're aware, the aardvark became a popular subject among graffiti artists in the 1980s. This mural is a tribute to the enduring power of Cerebus and the decades long legacy the character and its creators have forged.
