So, is it for sure, Dave? No bonus prints this time around?
Bummer if there's no bonus prints. I'll be in for it anyway. Dave should do a quick mirror check before shooting vids too, bit of a stray eyebrow there. I suffer from the same affliction too.
Hey, in the previous Kickstarter I purchased the Collected Letters 3. In this new Kickstarter it is offered along side with Notebook One. I would like to pledge for Notebook One, but not Collected Letters 3. Any way making this possible.
Mike R - I posed the same question on the Kickstarter page yesterday - no response as yet.
Hi guys! The INTENTION was definitely that you would be able to pledge for either or both. I'll ask Sandeep to either put a "NOTEBOOK only" pledge in or "NOTEBOOK and portfolio" pledge in the next time that he's in. Which, God willing, will be Tuesday, but not before then. Definitely no Bonus Prints this time. We're still discussing the idea of doing a package of Bonus Prints next time out -- what slows down the Bonus Print fulfillment process is the individuality of each shipment and making sure everyone gets the # they're entitled to. So the variables are: a) how large is the package of Bonus Prints? (too many and you have people complaining about having to buy prints they don't want to get the prints they do want; too few and you have people complaining that there just aren't enough) and b) which Bonus Prints do you do? This time out, what we're watching for is a) how can we make this faster? and b) what elements are slowing this down? The easiest way to see that is to do the simplest package possible probably for two campaigns until you've speeded up everything that can be speeded up. Then you can add something new in and see if it slows things down and how badly it slows things down.
The GOOD news is that digital rewards are much easier to accomplish than physical copy rewards, so we'll be doing more of them -- and COLLECTED LETTERS are in that category. Late last week, Dave Fisher was scanning my letters, the earliest of which is March, 1989 and had just started on 1991. So, technically, we should be able to offer COLLECTED LETTERS 1989 (incomplete) and COLLECTED LETTERS 1990 after Fisher has had a chance to get the scans cleaned up and centred, etc. And I think that's going to be how we're going to be doing it from now on: by year, instead of COLLECTED LETTERS 4, say. The letters that Fisher is scanning are physical, typed letters. After CEREBUS was done, I started answering the letters on computer and printing the letters out. Then I just deleted the person's name and address and typed their name in 24 pt. type at the top and BOOM! Instant traditional collected letters format. I did that until I got the orders for COLLECTED LETTERS 2 and realized they weren't high enough to justify doing a third book and went back to answering letters on the typewriter (which I still do) and then copying and filing my answer with the person's letter. So, it is POSSIBLE that we can go, year by year from 1989 to the present. I'm keeping track of Fisher's hours and need to figure out how much it COSTS to get him to scan and format a year's worth of letters based on how LONG it takes him to do an average year. There's also enough digital letters between COLLECTED LETTERS 3 and when I stopped doing it to do a good four or five CL 2 sized volumes. The more people order digital COLLECTED LETTERS, the more I can justify moving it to the "front burner". Otherwise it gets done at the pace it gets done. Which is actually quite fast since Fisher is using the "9-second" scanner that turned out not to be usable for scanning the artwork for Sean.
Ok. Sounds good to me. How about you Lee? We'll wait for Tuesday and make our adjustments on our pledge.
Great news - I'll be pledging as soon as it's adjusted.
I appreciate it, guys! We're dancing as fast as we can!
