Is READS actually out now? My LCS in the UK can't seem to get it even with the diamond code STAR01063; UK diamond doesn't seem to know what he's talking about. Or is it appearing in next Previews, meaning out in 3 months? Cheers

I've been enquiring at Gosh! in London, and received the same disappointing reply. Any North American or Canadian shop prepared to take the initiative in fulfilling UK orders by mail order could win itself a bit of extra business here.

Thanks Paul. Even Page 45 in Notts isn't showing it on page45.com

It's out in Canada. Got mine last week

I'm still trying to find an on-line retailer in the states selling READS.

No luck.

Given Diamond UK's piss-poor efforts at doing thier job properly, I'd be interested to know why Dave remains 'exclusive' with them. As Stephen at Page 45 mentioned recently on Twitter:

"If we could access CEREBUS via Ingram (US) & Gardners (UK) we'd have far more flexibility."

FYI right now Page 45 are listing 5 volumes as being "unavailable" and I'm very sure that's not Stephen's fault.

I'm going to leave a phone message with Tim L. at Diamond letting him know about your posts here and asking him to look into it.

I remain exclusive with Diamond because they're backstopping the restoration and buying entire print runs of the books. Which, in many cases, is a five- or six- year supply. The Diamond expression is "velocity": how fast do the books sell? CEREBUS and HIGH SOCIETY have pretty good velocity. Everything after that, not really. Diamond could be real hardasses and say "No, we'll backstop the first two, but the rest of them you're on your own."

We wouldn't have gotten as far and as fast as we have with the restorations and digital conversions without Diamond stepping up to the plate in a major way. MAJOR way.

I have NO idea what the relationship between Diamond U.S. and Diamond U.K. is and it's really none of my business. If Diamond U.K. doesn't want READS -- or any other CEREBUS trade -- and they have even partial autonomy, that's the end of it.

Since Diamond is meeting ME way more than halfway, I'm meeting THEM more than halfway.

I really think if anyone else was interested in distributing the books, I mean, there's got to be a half-million CEREBUS trades in circulation with the A-V phone and fax number in it. It's like the AIR PIRATES' SECRET HEADQUARTERS phone number they always had in the phonebook. :)

As a mathematician; if you've gone more than halfway and they've gone more than halfway, someone has to run backaways to meet up; I'll get me coat...

[eric fennessey -Nyuck nyuck nyuck. Good one]

I did leave the phone message for Tim L. on Friday and I'll be speaking to him as soon as SeanR has "green-lighted" Marquis' sample GOING HOME signature (we want to make sure that there are no moire's or dots filling in on this, the most TONE HEAVY trade) and we are "go" for GOING HOME and not CEREBUS being the next trade being printed.

Other Tim: Can you post a list here in this comments section of WHICH five trades are listed as unavailable on PAGE 45's site? I'll be happy to give Tim L. the list but that's as far as I'm going since I have no idea if a) Diamond UK has autonomy or semi-autonomy b) if not carrying the five trades is a political decision: i.e. we don't think these graphic novels should be made available because of the content so we choose not to make them available to stores. That's going to happen in a Feminist Theocracy.

That would be:
Vol 2: High Society
Vol 9: Reads
Vol 12: Rick's Story
Vol 13: Going Home
Vol 14: Form & Void
