...At the time, what "salvaged" Oktoberfest for me was the Beavers strips on the inside front and inside back covers: published appearances that would make them appear successful... and a 4-page interior strip, "The Trophy"... The Kitchener-Waterloo Record had agreed to carry the weekly The Beavers strip in their entertainment supplement Pulse. I was sure it was going to be "The Great Canadian Newspaper Strip."
Before Cerebus #1 was published in December 1977, Dave Sim created The Beavers newspaper strip, which ran in weekly installments in The Kitchener-Waterloo Record between 1976-1977.
