I'm pleased with that this will be the next set of pages. Issue 82 is the first issue I ever bought. I can still look at it with the same feeling of "what the hell is this?" as when I first read it. Issue 82 contains three scenes that, without knowing the backstory, appear totally disconnected. A great issue.
Y'know, I love these Archives projects, and I'm excited for #4, but the one thing that bugs me is the insistence on picking the ten earliest pages. Strikes me as a sort of old-school comic book enthusiast preoccupation with the earliest stuff being somehow more desirable / collectible. For me, I would be a lot more excited about pages that represent the entire work, rather than working under the artificial constraint of the ten earliest pages. This is nowhere more apparent than with the upcoming Archive 3, dominated by Silverspoon (???) pages. For fans of Silverspoon, it's going to be amazing! For fans of C+S !, not so much.
Hello G, Forgive me if you already know this...this conversation has been had here before...but the point of the Archive is to, EVENTUALLY, have quality prints of ALL the original art Dave still has in his possession. So if there's a page you really like, and if Dave still owns the original art, it will turn up...eventually.
I made the same complaint as gsquared previously. By chance the earliest pages this time are a very nice sequence. However, I t think the compliant should not simply be dismissed because plans have been made. If Dave intends to stick with printing the earliest pages in sequence, there is a greater risk that people will sit out some of the Archives because a particular set of pages are not of interest to some readers. In comparison, if a cross-section of pages are chosen, it is more likely that there will be something of interest each time an offering is made.
For instance in CAN3, to me an interesting cross-section of pages might have been a page of Silverspoon, something with the Countess and Wolverroach, Cerebus speechifying on the roof with his words written by Boobah, kicking the old man off the roof, throwing the baby, Weisshaupt with the canons, the death of Weisshaupt, an Odd Transformations page or two, a giant stone thrunk page, a Lord Julius/Bishop Powers page with the lovely crosshatched lighting, or Cerebus grabbing the whiskey from the cellar.

Whoop - time to buy another portfolio holder thingie! Yippee!
I'm looking forward to this one! One of my favourite sequences right there.
