SANDEEP ATWAL:
...I've now read the first 177 pages, all the pages that are done. It is the best work Dave has ever done, both artistically and narratively, it is AWESOME. What glamourpuss should've been really, a history of photorealists like Alex Raymond, Milt Caniff and Hal Foster, and many others, their style recreated by Sim as he goes into the real-world ramifications of what they drew in their strips. Sim himself is in it, narrating the story and it is really, really good! I honestly could see when the first volume comes out from IDW (whenever that is...) it could be a genuine hit for Sim. Certainly critically it will be lauded, and hopefully if IDW gives it a good push, that'll be enough to get regular comic readers to give it a shot...

Yay!!!
Ya know what? Just gonna throw this out there. I think I can honestly say that there is no comic book that I am looking more forward to than The Strange Death Of Alex Raymond. Period.
Hey Michael, FYI, I've now read the first 177 pages....I think it is the best work Dave has ever done. Artistically and as a narrative it works extremely well. Whenever it does finally come out, you definitely won't be disappointed!
It wouldn't be possible to see at least one of those pages up close would it? I'll still buy the book. I promise.
lol...that's all up to Dave....
Here's the pickle I put myself in. I bought the first issue of glamourpuss years ago when it came out. Didn't even remotely understand it (this coming from a guy who bought everything Dave Sim did starting with issue 48 of Cerebus). So, I MIGHT have bought the second issue, but then I was done... Much later, around issue 22 I think, I picked it up again--- read the Alex Raymond parts, and spent the next few months SCOURING comic book stores for the old issues (just like with CEREBUS years earlier!). So, idiot me has read most but not all of what Mr. Sim has already published concerning Mr. Raymond. So, to say the least, I can not wait to read what I missed, what he's changed, and how it ends. I repeat, there is no comic book that I am looking more forward to than The Strange Death Of Alex Raymond. I envy your job!! :)
Hey Michael, having worked with SIm on glamourpuss and now having read this, I can say there is really very little overlap between the two. A tiny bit of glamourpuss has made it in there, but it is very much a new work, but certainly if you enjoyed the Raymond stuff in glamourpuss you're going to love this!
Interesting!!! hmmm... so --- I guess that means I'll still have to find the issues of glamourpuss that I don't have yet AND buy The Strange Death Of Alex Raymond!
