My favorite FC issue, besides the Neal Adams one.

Hmm. What can I do with the title AVENGERS? Oh, wait! I know! :)

Can't believe that this was 12 years ago

These are neat. Why not use them for the Cerebus in Hell? cover parody series?

Hi Gary! I think when all you're giving the longtime CEREBUS fans and CEREBUS IN HELL? readers that's new is a new cover and 4 new pages, you really can't afford to start stirring reprint covers into the mix.

Hi Tim P! Wait until you get to be 60 years old and 12 years ago is, like, last week!

I always thought it was funny that I had Swoon swinging his...um..."hammer".

["Yo' diddlin' yo'self under there, aren't you son."

"It...comforts...me."]

I always wondered what the story was with "Iron Roach" on the "DAVE'N'GERS" cover (speaking as an ex-"Iron Man" fan. I also always thought he would have been the favourite super-hero of "Milk and Cheese," what with all the drinking). A Roach analogue that never got around to being shown? Or a "one-off" for the cover?

Eddie,

I believe that that's a version of the Multiple Roach from after he became Kay-Sara-Sara.

Dave, you do make a good point. My suggestion was based on the idea that these weren't really full covers. But yeah, I do understand not wanting to re-use something Cerebus fans have seen before. On the topic... how "safe" is it to repurpose someone else's art in a parody cover? Is that something we should be considering when proposing cover designs? I can't imagine DC or Marvel being too happy about seeing their classic covers bastardized with Cerebus cut-outs. They might get jealous. :)

Ah gotcha! Thanks Matt.

If you want to "fact-check" Matt is your go-to guy!

Gary - My PERSONAL view is that DC and Marvel have much bigger fish to fry in 2017 than worrying about a parody comic selling four thousand copies. I don't think it would be anywhere close to a legal slam-dunk in the Mash-Up Age particularly since they're all one-shot parodies. There will definitely be plenty of time for them to yell "cease and desist" between the solicitation being in PREVIEWS and actual publication.
