I think the letter Dave wrote merely points to the fact that women are no better, or worse, than men. Each can be, as he said, "vile, ugly and mean-spirited". I would suggest that it's more mysanthropy then misogyny. If one must put a label on it.
I think the only real difference is that men have been able to prove themselves to be "vile, ugly and mean-spirited" longer. So in that regard I guess that means that women have some catching up to do.
