Hi, Everybody!
Mondays!
___________
So, I got a message from Our Man in Easton, PA: Michael R.
Hi Matt!
I went to the Lehigh Valley Comic Convention on December 7th, 2024. My nephew, Robert, tagged along. I didn't have much time and there was 3 reasons why I wanted to attend.
(from left to right:) Michael and Robert and A SIGN!
1- Walt and Louise Simonson. I wanted to get my photo with Walt & Louise with my older photos. AND I did! I cut corners and lines to get my photo. :)
2- Scott Palochik, John Hohn (JAF Comics & publisher for Dreamscapes Publishing), Oliver Dowling (artist) & Beth Sharland (letterer) were in attendance and had my books signed. Issue 3 should be going live on Kickstarter sometime in February. John is shooting for a quarterly schedule.
3- Steve Peters & Bianca Alu-Murr!!!!
I was in communication with Steve through Instagram. I said most likely that I was coming, then last minute I told him I couldn't come due to my brother-in-law's passing. My wife and my sister-in-law, Barbara, said I should go and take my nephew, Robert, too. So we went. My sister-in-law said it would be good that we went. There was nothing to do in the morning, since it was an afternoon service.
The BIGGEST reason to meet Steve was that I had won the Heritage Auction of Dave Sim's Sparkybus variant cover. Usually when there is something that I like that is being auctioned on HA, I put my maximum bid right off the bat. I lose every time. Except this time! My bid held up. I wanted to get a photo with Steve. AND I did!!!
(from left to right:) Michael, Sparkybus, Rei, Aki, Ying, and Steve |
Steve and Bianca were very gracious and answering my goofy questions. I bought a bunch of stuff and if I stayed longer, I would have bought more. HAHAHA! Steve personalized everything that I purchased. All in all it was fun and way too short.
(from left to right:) Rei, Aki, Ying, Captain Kirk(?), Steve, Sparky, and Jerry (screw it, I'ma run with it...) |
I also kinda sorta interviewed him.
With Steve's permission you can post this on AMOC.
Well thanks Michael!
AMOC sends our condolences on the loss of your brother-in-law.

Got a message from my friends at the Waverly Press. They're doing Holiday Bundles for 2024. There are limited to 50 bundles. Available until December 31 or they sell out. Whichever comes first. Get 'em while they're hot. https://waverlycomics.com

Since it's Holiday time, Twomorrows publishing is having their annual sale. Comic Book Creator magazine has done interviews with Dave adjacent creators like Steve Bissette, Bob Burden, (I haven't read it, so I can neither confirm or deny if Dave is mentioned) Rick Veitch, among others. And Cerebus is covered in Back Issue #75, and the X-Men crossover is talked about in #118. And Margaret has a photo printed in issue #31. If you search for "Dave Sim", they have a bunch of issues. Anyway, just letting people know. Sale ends December 9th. That's today.

In other news, since Twitter is a dumpster-fire and most people are skipping out of there, AMOC has joined BlueSky. Follow along. Or don't. No skin of my nuts either way...
