Okay, since this was all sorts of screwy-kerflooie this month, we (meaning me) are instituting a new Policy going forward: Questions will be assembled into a SINGLE document sent to Dave the Monday the WEEK before the first Thursday of the month. (IE: Monday July 28th for the August Please Hold.) If you decide to skip me and send something to Dave for Please Hold, if it's an image/comic/drawing/whatever, please send a scan to momentofcerebus@gmail.com so I have the thing when it's time to make all the damn videos. Since I'm posting the transcripts, maybe check there and see if Dave has already answered whatever question you have. (And if it's a follow-up, or request for clarafication, mentioning which transcript it is/where in there it is, that'd make my life a tad easier.) Still THREE (3) questions per asker, Podcasters get right to first "publication", and I'll tag you on the YouTube if you include you're handle from over there.
Okay, Please Hold 7/2025 II: The Revenge!
Audio:
Part 14: John Rovnak has found the rarest of rarities:
Part 15: Michael R. asks about the Ninja High School crossover:
Part 16: And Dave finishes out with Jesse Herndon's questions, Christon's questions, and maybe somebody else's:
Well, Dave thinks of this as the August Please Hold, and thecocksuckerswhoRUINEDanchor... I mean Spotify, won't let me number this one 7.5, so it's technically episode 8 of 2025, so I've decided any and all August questions are being kicked to the September Please Hold.
Rigamarole:

Our very own Jen DiGiacomo is part of a film production titled The Day Elvis Died. She'll never ask anybody here, but they're crowdfunding to finish the post production on the movie. (It's set in 1977, will a certain obscure Canadian cartoon aardvark make a cameo? (No. Elvis died in August. Cerebus wasn't published until December. Any appearance in the flick would be an anachronism that would ruin the movie for everybody. EVERYBODY!).) Here's the first trailer. And if you're going to Edinburgh Fringe, Jen's doing her One Woman show Woman in the Arena, pretty much all month. If you go, "swordfish". And send pics...

Obviously I'm not listing the Cerebus Jam April wants, and there's a bunch of Waverly Spawn #10 books in the OTHER AMOC Prize Box (along with postcards and stickers and whatnots. NO. I'm not going thru that one right now. I'm supposed to be in the Please Hold Editing Suite working on the many many videos and Audio. But, currently I'm downloading the CBZ files from the High Society Audio Visual Edition so I can get the jpgs so I have the covers to issues 26-29 for Dave's answer to Steve Peters question. (It's NOT procrastination if you can find a good excuse Margaret...).)
ANYWAY, I'm MORE than willing to trade any of this for Neat Stuff, but since mailing things is my Kryptonite, you're more likely to get me to do something by offering to trade any of this for money. The more you pay, the faster I get to the post office...
If you NEED/WANT anything from the Waverly Press/Aardvark-Vanaheim offerings, I guess you can ask and I'll go dig through the effin' box...
Email momentofcerebus@gmail.com if you're interested...

Next Time: Dave sent NOT audio, so I should probably run that...

Great listen! Has Dave ever spoken about his objections to professional sports on a previous Please Hold and can someone tell me which one if so please? Thanks
Matt Dow - you are a great man. Keep doing what you're doin' . Just imagine all the riches that will come out of all your hard work.
I can't recall anything in the older transcripts (I'll do a deep dive later), but this month's Please Hold has something of that nature. I'll post the pertinent bit here, concerning censorship:
I mean, I'm at the point where fasting, prayer, reading scripture aloud, working, sleeping, reading newspapers. That's it. That's all that I allow myself, and I don't even read the sports section. But it would be ridiculous for me to say, “Well, you know, I've seen this exponential improvement in my life. So, I think we need to ban professional sports. Just completely ban the NFL, the NHL, NBA. We will all become much better people.” I do think we would all become much better people, but it's not something that, you can't get there from here.
Thanks JLH! I know Dave's personal aeseticism would preclude following sports when he could be fasting and praying, but I thought Dave regarded (in Collected Letters and Mama's Boy) professional sports as a societal oasis where merit was still the key concern - nobody is winning the Superbowl or World Series with Diversity Hires. I'd be interested to hear more on Dave's views. Many thanks.
I appreciate "in Collected Letters" isn't terribly specific sorry - I'm not at home just now, but if you look up Lyndon Johnson in the index I'm sure Dave uses LBJ's phrase "that dog won't hunt" when talking about squishy societal homosexuality and professional athletes being the best of us in the physical sense.
