Since Jen is dealing with "technical difficulties", glamourpuss part 3: An actual Progress update!

Hi, Everybody!

Life Hack: Don't hire a thespian to do blog posts for you...
Or Bartenders, or Magicians...

Anyway, Jen's off living the High Life, so I'm back having to "do" Tuesdays until she comes back. IF she comes back... Speaking of which, I received:
Note from the Interim Head of SDOAR Division
"YOU TELL THAT BUBBLE-HEADED BIMBO IN THE CHORUS LINE, I DON'T CARE IF SHE'S SCHTUPPING THE CHOREOGRAPHER, THE NEXT TIME SHE STUMBLES THROUGH MY EYELINE IN THE SECOND ACT, I'LL HAVE HER ON THE FIRST BUS BACK TO MUNCIE!"
Well... it sounds like rehearsals are going well.

Just the GoFundMe Facts, Man...ly:

$20,410.00 raised to date from 377 donations
126 pages released so far as mocked up and/or drawn by Dave Sim through 22 Feb 2022, or 2/22/22 for all the numerologists
$190.00 away from unlocking page 127
If you have not donated, a $5+ donation grants you access to all 126 pages and all unlocked pages moving forward >> https://www.gofundme.com/f/sdoar-2023
GoFundMe now offers automated monthly donations!

And despite the attempt, these aren't pictures of Spider-Man:
Note from the Senior SDOAR Remaster...master, Philip Fry
Well, a week late and several dollars short, here’s the "remasterer's" update on The Strange Death of Alex Raymond 20XX (as I will now call it).

I have completed all pages for No. 0 and No. 1 with Dave's numbering added. This means the first comic art page of The Strange Death of Alex Raymond 20XX No. 0 will be page 253, immediately following the last fully illustrated page from the published "Carson's Version".

I have completed multiple versions of the covers (color or b&w image, include "Remastered Edition" or not, etc.), which are different than the ones you've seen from the older printer proofs. Dave gave it a rethink and, while I won't share the actual covers I've done, I will share the fax page that shows Dave's new layout. (I would normally check with Jen first, but she's busy and this is my update, dammit.) I'm probably going to recreate the logo from scratch. It's been reworked so many times, I should probably have a version I can just open and retype the year, once it's settled, rather than grafting on new numbers as I have been doing.

Work has begun…slowly…on No. 2. I have four pages finished. I started with some of the trickier ones, as Dave started getting more fancy again, so here's a comparison.

Here's the mockup:

And here's the remaster:

You will note that I didn't follow Dave *exactly* here because I felt he would prefer the realism of the actual dimensions of Kodak Safety Film, so I created a template from an actual roll of film which, you will also note, has a slightly taller frame with less of a border than Dave's version.

Sourcing the images of Alex Raymond "working from bed" were also a bit of a chore, but I was able to find them all in relatively high quality, which is great because Dave uses them a good bit in this section. I did have to stitch them together due to the way they are found onlne, but here they are if you're interested. (I thought they were interesting, anyway.)

As for forward-facing progress, essentially, I have been dipping in whenever I find the time. Typically, if I find myself with a weekend and no other project on hand, I'll tackle a page or two. Until we get back into "active" mode (we're sending stuff to Dave, he's sending stuff back) I'm a bit less "plugged-in" to the project.

But progress continues…
Which is a long way to bring us back to This.

Then:

Hey, three weeks and we're STILL on glamourpuss #1! That means we'll be done just in  time for Jen to come back in 2036... (You better have an EGOT Jen, or we won't take you back...)

Dave Sim is trying an eBay experiment to see if his own (signed and numbered) comic copies from the Kickstarter will sell.

This time he is selling a total of 5 comic books over the next six weeks. There is only one comic book to start on eBay.  Each week there will be another comic added to the eBay listing.

The first auction is live. Sim wanted a two week auction; the longest Dave's eBay guy can run it is 10 days, so it'll end Monday Feb 16 at 8 pm ET.

The item title is Dave Sim POSSUM-AT-LARGE VS. SUPER-CEREBUS (CIH? #85) Signed 1/5 (#104/185)

Next Time: All the weekly bullsh*t, then the LAST of glamourpuss #1...
