RIP Richard Corben. Corben self published "Fantagor" as early as 1970 (And years before Metal Hurlant and Heavy Metal existed contributed to Warren's anthology comics Creepy, Eerie, 1984 and Comix International)

Here's a look at some of the movies he made himself
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=392026818461050
https://youtu.be/JM3hjD_W0yI
And there's currently an indie film being made via indigogo based on his comic "Fever Dreams" starring Patton Oswalt, Robert Picardo (from Star Trek Voyager) and Patrick Warburton (the Tick)
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/to-meet-the-faces-you-meet#/

Last week we looked at another similar animation production setup as ours as well and here's yet another...It's a crowded field:). It's also based on a humorous genre comic - a Franco Belgian comic called Agent 327 of which i have several European album format issues https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_327
They did an amazing trailer https://youtu.be/mN0zPOpADL4

Done through the awesome free open source community Blender that is open to anyone. They have actually done several incredible shorts, but 327 is to be their first feature. You can also do 2D animation and comics with the Blender software
https://cloud.blender.org/films/
https://cloud.blender.org/films/agent-327/5889c0e09595a620346e0aa0
Blender's biggest strength and why it might exceed all other software platforms is it's amazingly enthusiastic and robust community and if we had been smart we would have gone that route but at the time Blender was far from what they are now - and we were only a handful of people and nobody knew how to use it. (We actually had a vote on what software to use and i lost and had to learn how to use Maya, which was and is the biggest.)
Anyway, things have gotten quiet on the 327 front with chatter that maybe they aimed too high, not that there's anything wrong with that https://blenderartists.org/t/whatever-happened-to-agent-327/1101549/22
but i wouldn't discount the movie yet and rooting for them

As an aside with the upcoming "hitpig" movie - there's also this week a new nintendo game called "gunpig". https://www.nintendo.com/en_CA/games/detail/gunpig-firepower-for-hire-switch/

Weishaupt calls Cerebus excellent

Andrew Rilstone reviews Cerebus #1: ...a homage to the Marvel Comics version of Conan the Barbarian. The joke, if there is a joke, depends on the art looking as much like Smith’s as it is possible for art to look. But a very large amount of what made Cerebus the Aardvark great is already present in these opening pages, if only embryonically.

Weldon Adams: I don't think I have ever posted this here. It's a sketch I got from Dave at a store signing in Dallas in (I think) the mid-1980s.
There's a funny story about this piece... you see, that's Moon Roach, Lord Julius, Cerebus... and ME.
I showed up at the signed in full Harpo Marx regalia. And I would not speak at all. Using mime, I told Dave I wanted a 4-person sketch. I mimed Moon Roach, and Lord Julius. Then I mimed getting out a cigarette and smoking it. When Dave said "Cigarette?" I got him to say it again...and I grabbed his face and started squeezing his cheeks as he said it until it sounded like "Cerebus". :) (It's amazing what you can get away with if you are dressed like Harpo Marx.) And for the fourth person, I thumped my chest and stood proudly.
And this is the wonderful sketch Dave produced after that light-hearted humiliation

Weldon Adams in the comments: I did find this one (horrible) photo showing me in an earlier version of that costume from my Senior year of High School.

As I said, IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
SAM GLANZMAN ORIGINAL ART UP FOR AUCTION
Right now, ATTU Book Three by WWII veteran and comic book master Sam Glanzman, is up for auction from Heritage Auctions. There are only 2 days left, and 27 pages of original Sam Glanzman art (the complete ATTU Book Three) only has a few bids, with a high bid of only $575. It’s got cavemen, dinosaurs and a whole lot of action! Gotta be worth more than $575! Sam Glanzman's widow will benefit from this auction, so only getting $575 for 27 pages of original Glanzman art would be devastating. We are trying to get the word out to collectors of original comic book art. If you collect original comic book art, please consider placing a bid. And if not, please forward this to anyone you think would be interested.

Here is the link: https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/sam-glanzman-attu-the-collected-volumes-1-complete-26-page-story-attu-jan-uk-original-art-total-27-/a/122050-13642.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

The auction WAS at $575, but that's jumped up to $725. But, again, Sam's widow isn't gonna get much. So, if you got some money, and wanna help a poor widow...

Auction ends tomorrow.

Next Time: Matt remembers Rich Corben
