The Comics Reporter: Publishing News

TOM SPURGEON:
(from The Comics Reporter, 26 April 2016)
...here's the most interesting publishing news story of the week from where I sit: Karl Stevens will assist Dave Sim with some extra material to be folded into The Strange Death Of Alex Raymond, the forthcoming IDW book...

Dave's work on SDOAR is pretty much finished, really just waiting for Karl to finish his pages and it's basically done.

WHAAAT? You can't just drop a bombshell like that...so Dave has hired an artist to draw the pages from his layouts? And we can actually, like, buy it sometime soon??? Details, please!

I'm curious... I recall SDOAR originally being a proposed 4 volume graphic novel series. Has it shrunk drastically because of the injury to Dave's hand or has it just been an evolving project and reduced in scale accordingly.
Many thanks,
Tim

"Pretty much finished" and "basically done" are phrases which raise far more questions than they answer. Could we have some clarification please? Thank you.

Um. The parts that are finished are finished: right up to the point where my hand went south which might be all that gets done. Actually, I'm just here to post the latest Impossible Thing comment, but I'll try to explain some of this after that,

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing it - and I love Karl Stevens work, I remember seeing it in the Boston Phoenix. Good stuff.
