Last week, I showed off the in-progress cover for CEREBUS: THE LAST AARDVARK IN HELL? #1. Since then, David Birdsong sent me this image, pointing out that I had colored the sky incorrectly:
He's begun the actual coloring of the cover:
I suggested adding some Kirby Krackle to the shadows of the Cerebus Statue:
Via email, David suggested that Cerebus' dialogue could parody one of these famous Planet Of The Apes lines:
-It's a mad house! A MAD HOUSE!
-You did it. You cut up his brain, you bloody baboon!
-A planet where apes (aardvarks) evolved from men?
The most quoted line ever:
-Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!
And the full blown final awesomeness:
I suggested Cerebus' dialogue could be: "Cerebus is a MANIAC! HE BLEW IT UP! DAMN HIM! DAMN HIM TO HELL?!"
Via email, Eddie Khanna suggested :"You finally did it! You maniacs! You voted EVERYONE off the island! Damn you! God Damn you to hell!" (with a tag line saying "First interactive cover!!")
He added: "You finally did it! You maniacs! You [fill in the blank with whatever you think is going to cause the apocalypse here]!! You maniacs!! Damn you! God Damn you to hell!"
Via AMOC, Eddie suggested "We finally really did it! You maniacs! You made Cerebus into Charlton Heston! Damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
Dion, via AMOC, suggested "Wait right there! Cerebus is sure his helmet is around here somewhere.”
Jeff added onto that: "Where did I leave my sword?"
As for the blurb above the title, David Birdsong suggested: "An Infernal Realm where aardvarks evolved from men?!?"

Eddie's dialog suggestions are spot on. I can't decide which one I like best though.
I do have a suggestion for dialog coming from one of the demons soaring above. The demon could be shouting from above.
"YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME! YOU DID IT TO YOURSELF A**HOLE!"
I’m digging Eddie’s AMOC one... for the direct Heston reference.
Ha! The "First Interactive Cover" tag line was supposed to go with the "Fill In the Blank" caption, but seems kind of poignant with the "You voted everyone off the island!" one.
I want to go old school and offer the advice that Cerebus would give to any guy when that guy needs to get away from his girl for a while, "Cerebus will tell you what he tells everybody else who P#!$$#S him off Go Away! Beat it! Scram!"
