Auroraman (Dave's Weekly Update #391)

Hi, Everybody!

Dave's Weekly Update:

Ya know how Dave films these things in advance?

Pretty sure Oliver has had Dave's Auroraman drawing on Around the World & Web...

Yup. Toldya...

Here's the Canadian Comic Book Alliance's website. (Save ya the googling...)

Cerebus in Hell?
And Ben Hobb's Kickstarter is fully funded, and:
Hello Everyone!

Thank you for your generous support in this project! We've unlocked the fourth stretch goal, so every volume will now have a DANTE Card as well as CEREBUS and BATVARK! (Two of each if you backed both volumes.)

The third stretch goal, the bookplate, is well underway. Here are the current mock-ups.

The first is based on a suggestion from Matt Dow:

Dave Sim suggested that I make a bookplate that has the following text on it:
I'm sending them to Dave tonight. If he has any comments, I'll post them as an Update.

I'm playing around with some other ideas, and I'll post those as they're finished.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions, leave them in the comments below!
-Benjamin Hobbs
AND:
Greetings Everyone!

Volume 2 has arrived from the printer!
Here's the front and back of the book:
And here's the book's glossy hardcover:
All offset printing comes with the caveat that the print run can be over or under by about 10%. This one was over by eight books. 158 books showed up. The numbering goes up to 161, meaning that three of the previous numbers are missing. If you have a CANs number between 150 and 161, that copy might exist!

The numbering is still out of 150.

Latest Kickstarter Update(s):
Thank you to everyone who logged into Zoom while I was inking yesterday!

Here is a recording of the inking session on the Rip Cerebus strip.https://youtu.be/-7bImf41R2Q

And a scan of my contribution.
I will put this in the mail to Dave today so he can finish it up.

This will be printed at 8" x 3" on a tan, cardstock paper, signed by both myself and Dave in a numbered edition of however many you all buy! The option to add this on to your pledge is now live for $15 per print.

We continue to be blown away by how much love this campaign is getting. Thank you all so much!!!

Almost as much love as this
AND:
Holy cow, we just keep on keeping!

Yesterday we had an artist whose work I enjoy pledge to the campaign. The pledge was particularly tickling because this individual's art shows up in a couple panels of the opening sequence to the book. So, if you are a pro who pledged recently, eagle eye the first four pages of the book when you get it. Thank you for the support!

And, thank all of you so much for continuing to pledge, and continuing to add items to your orders. This has guaranteed that we can cover the cost of printing a large run for distribution and helped us buy prominent ad spaces in catalogs and on websites!

We are well within the final-48 hours of the campaign and want to make one last push to woo all of you who followed the project but have not pledged yet. We would love to hear from you about what we can do to earn your support.

During this final push I wanted to give a final list of available add-ons.

Dave Sim's Judenhass Signed and Numbered $4 (plus $11 postage — US and CA only please! Fulfilled from Kitchener)

Dave's first long-form photorealism experiment, a harrowing indictment of Nazism and the attitudes that enabled it. Signed by Dave and numbered to copies sold during the campaign.
Signed and Numbered Rip Cerebus print $15 (no additional shipping!)

On its way to Dave now for him to ink Cerebus. This one-of-a-kind collaboration will be printed on tan paper at signed and numbered based on how many we receive orders for.
Dave Sim's Collected Letters V.2 $22

With a cover featuring one of Dave's first photorealistic experiments. Signed and numbered by Dave.
The Preliminary Strange Death - 120 pages $30 (no additional postage within the US-- $5 intl. postage as an add-on)

A 120 page full-color companion to The Strange Death of Alex Raymond, featuring preliminary drawings by Dave Sim that give great insight into his interlocking design and drawing processes.
An Additional copy of The Strange Death of Alex Raymond $40

It's ... ANOTHER COPY!
glamourpuss ZOOTANAPUSS No. 5 Variant Cover (20 left) $50

Includes a digital file folder of all of the cosplay photos Dave had available for this issue.
Russ Heath tryout full-size print 6" x 22" $75
When Russ Heath heard that Alex Raymond had been killed in a car crash, he immediately produced this RIP KIRBY tryout strip, a copy of which he sent to me when we were working on glamourpuss together. He definitely had serious newspaper strip "chops" (Russ had worked as George Wunder's assistant on TERRY AND THE PIRATES). Unfortunately for Russ, there hadn't been time for tryout strips. Raymond had been barely three weeks ahead. I'm sure by the time he had drawn it and taken it to King Features Syndicate, John Prentice had already been tapped as Raymond's successor.

full-size 6" x 22" facsimile, with handwritten verification by Dave Sim and CEREBUS ARCHIVE FIRST RELEASE gold seal on the back. Signed and numbered out of however-many-copies sell

SDOAR Fundraiser Edition $100

The Aardvark-Vanaheim printed "California Test Market Edition" of SDOAR, featuring the first 120 pages of the full book, and color commentary by Sim. This had a print run of 400 copies, about 20 of which we still have!
Two-Hour Strange Death phone-call with Dave Sim $250

When your Strange Death reading experience is done, get a chance to grill the man himself on the contents of the book! Limited to one person.
