Cerebus Around the World and Web #120 by Oliver Simonsen

Oliver Simonsen:

At some point we were wondering how to do the fur on Cerebus' nose and my first thought was oh that's why ALF looks the way he does:).

Just when you thought Cerebus would be the last aardvark standing with the farewell of Arthur

Shout! Factory has acquired ‘ALF’ with plans to bring the character back...."featuring Cerebus content?" Tuck asks

Bleeding Cool: "ALF was seen by many as a rip-off of Cerebus. A similar attitude, a similar look, a similar sense of unreality surrounded by reality – but actually reflecting more reality than the fictional situation in which the lead had been placed. And now Dave Sim is claiming it back with a new trademark-baiting ALF version of Cerebus In Hell"

In the Cerebus Facebook Group Sean Michael Robinson shares in the comments: "So... I drew this. LOL. Coloring by me and David Birdsong, dialogue on the cover (and writing on interior) by Dave. I've been waiting for this for a YEAR. By the way, this cover was suggested by a group member"

Btw from Wikipedia on the definition of the Metaphysical Detective genre:
Michael Holquist believes that a typical metaphysical detective story should not have "a neat ending". Instead, the ending of such stories needs to provoke further thoughts and be difficult to be forgotten. The crucial element to reach such an effect is to set insoluble mysteries

So something happened on the way to P. of T. 8 American Kickerstarter.

I'd received my copy of the Canadian issue, and really thought it captured this idea of Dave's, to revisit DIY zines, slap it together and print.

But in gold ink, there's that.

But anyway, as I sat there on Kicker and considered signing in and cashing out...
...something inside me went *nope*.

I'm satiated, filled up, engorged.

Yeah, the fanboy mega-collector in me would like one of those "proofs", and at least this "proof" wasn't a 'limited edition set of 5 covers with 30 copies printed of each set' as with the Cerebus #2 Waverly issue.

But it was really quite interesting to watch myself, and see in myself this stepping back and away.

Thanks for listening.

Steve

I bought a 10 pack of the Canadian edition.

Because it was limited, and I knew people would miss out, and complain.

I sold the nine extra copies (at a profit, I'm a profiteer, I admit it,).

I bought one of the American edition.

Because I knew it would sell better.

I wonder where the second issue is gonna sell?

Manly Matt Dow
(I know 16 pages didn't even scratch the surface of what Dave COULD throw in there. I suspect another version before the year is out. I DON'T KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE, THIS IS PURE SPECULATION ON MY PART!)
