COLOUR YOUR OWN corrections!

Benjamin Hobbs:

On April 27th and 28th I'll be at the Gem City Comic Con, in Dayton, OH.  Come out and say 'hi' and have your CIH? books signed!

http://gemcitycomiccon.com/

We've previously seen the cover to COLOUR YOUR OWN CEREBUS IN HELL? which features POSSUM AT LARGE. You can buy POSSUM AT LARGE COMICS HERE.

However, Dave wanted some corrections.

He went on to say the cover should have "Just a small patch of purple crayon colour on the leg and maybe a patch of bright red oil paint or watercoulour, smeared on his stomach and sticking over into the purple crayon on the leg and part of a red thumbprint someplace (disappearing behind a word balloon, otherwise it will look like an actual red thumbprint and people won't buy it because it's not mint). Err wildly on the side of less colour."

This is my first attempt to reduce the colour:

The first attempt didn't "err wildly on the side of less colour". Here's my next attempt (and the one I sent to Dave):

Did I leave out to much colour? Is this the perfect balance? Let me know in the comments!

Next Week:Find out if the "finger print" was "finger printy" enough!

My guess? No. And, it's a *finger*print, not a *thumb*print. Also, you don't have the red mixing down into the purple. Otherwise, good cover, so far. I hope that Blair will get a lot of royalties from this.

#3 Looks like the way to go, Benjamin.

That would be Chad Lambert's Possum At Large, not Blair Kitchen's The Possum, Jeff.

Whoa...talk about what's in the dictionary to illustrate "inside baseball!"

Is it just me or are these covers getting worse?

It's just me.

Well Tony, I don't know how "inside" that slider was. I thought it was Blair Kitchen's Possum too for a bit.

Did you know there was a Daredevil back in the day that isn't Marvel's Daredevil? It turns out that Daredevil is now in the public domain. Heh, we are going to have a bit of fun with that in 2020.

Who knows? Maybe Blair *will* get royalties from this. :)

What I meant was, I had no idea *anybody* had made a comic book about a possum. You guys discussing exactly *which* possum character was being parodied just left me wryly amused (which is my default state anyway).

And yes, of course I knew there was a Golden Age Daredevil - but know nothing beyond the character's mere existence. I've certainly never actually read a G.A. Daredevil story.

Me neither, but after slapping some sunglasses on Cerebus one day and then putting a briefcase in his hand we had an instant 'Fred' Murdoch which invited a Daredevil discussion which lead to Benjamin Hobbs mentioning (or was it Sean R?) that the golden age Daredevil was in the public domain and we could lift any of it we wanted to which lead to six or so strips of mine having fun with 'Fred' which Dave then script doctored to make them actually funny which is most likely leading to an entire VarkDevil issue sometime in the near future.

Someday all comic books will be made this way.

Okay, so, what you're saying is that "Fret Mac Murray" is making a *reappearance* in a Cerebus book? And, this time with sunglasses, a la (IIRC) his character in "Double Indemnity"?

Sign me up! He was so much better opposite Barbara Stanwyck than as the "wise old dad" of those insipid, motherless, three sons. But the old-guy nanny was pretty good...

Oh. Wait. That's Jaka's "Fred".

Nevermind!

(Still, a Fret comeback could be fun...).

I love Blair Kitchen, but "The Possum" and "Possum At Large" couldn't be any more different. His is pretty good, and mine sucks. But mine has been beautifully sucking since 1993, and was a Day Prize Short List winner in 2003 for sucking slightly less than others at the time.
