Gerhard's Photos: Taboo Especial

GERHARD:
Uncle Steve comes for a visit, brings his own refreshments and is only too happy to share with Dave. This was probably at a '92 tour stop somewhere. It's difficult to tell by the décor. We were in a different city every other weekend for the whole year and it all sort of blended together. Steve Bissette was promoting his horror anthology Taboo (see cover insert) and there's a Tundra logo on the neck of the bottle, so that should narrow down the time-frame. I'm not trying to be historically accurate here; I just wanted to share some fun photos.

As a comics-artist, Steve Bissette is best known for his collaboration with Alan Moore and John Totleben on DC Comics' Swamp Thing in the 1980s, as well as his own self-published Tyrant. As editor of Taboo (1988-1992), he published the first serialised appearances of From Hell (by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell), Lost Girls (by Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie) and the still-born Sweeney Todd (by Neil Gaiman and Michael Zulli).

Gerhard provided background art to Dave Sim’s cast of Cerebus characters between issue #65 (August 1984) and #300 (March 2004) - contributing to over 4,700 pages of comic art, as well as numerous Cerebus covers and illustrations. Keep up to date on all of Gerhard’s current projects at his blog and website, including details of his new book, The Wish.
