Gerhard's Life After Cerebus...

GERHARD:
(by email, 23 March 2014)
Back when I was trying to think of things to do just after the book was completed, I tried taking some scenes from Cerebus, removed word balloons and captions and coloured them on the computer. I thought of doing a bunch of these and making them available as a series of prints. Dave didn’t care for the idea and it was scrapped...

Dave, Gerhard,
I would too.
And it would be even better if they were signed by the both of you!

This is a good idea. That second one with Cerebus and Jaka on the bed is gorgeous.

Are youse guys nuts? Look at the moire, can't fix that somehow?

I don't recall that particular image (I'm near the beginning of Melmoth in my reread), but are you sure that's Jaka and not New Joanne?

David, try not to look a gift horse in the mouth too directly... Pretty sure the moiré pattern is just a scanning artifact. I think that's Jaka from Going Home, after the blizzard. I could be wrong.

How about Gerhard colorizing the first 25 issues and putting it out as a hardcover on good paper?

I think you're right about Jaka. I realized that shortly after I posted. I think they're in Ham's house.

That shot of Jaka & Cerebus is from the tail end of Going Home, while they're holed up in a hunting lodge, waiting for the moment the weather breaks so they can move on before the Mothers can get up to the tent.

So much for any fanboy cred I might have aspired to...

if it makes you feel any better, Cerebus is probably the only thing on Earth I have this level of familiarity with.

I laughed really hard reading that, because my brain substituted The Mothers of Invention for... ah, forget it. I laughed, though.
