It always kinda looked to me like Cerebus was chasing down a huge floating poop with a toilet plunger.

I remember buying this when it first came out. I loved that whole story arc, from the initial parody of Eastwood's movie The Beguiled through to the Marvel-DC muck-monster match-up. Dave's Sump Thing joke is still probably one of my favourite comedy moments in the book.

Steve, that kind of insightful analysis of The World's Only 6000 Page Graphic Novel is why I keep coming back here. (Seriously, though, thanks for a much-needed laugh!)

For some reason, it was the "fill in the blank" device - "whoever knows ______ will burn at the touch of the Sump Thing" - that most cracked me up. In particular, the wizard who, in a fit of depression, filled in "me" - I think I laughed as hard at that joke as I've ever laughed at anything.
