BECAUSE JEFF DEMANDED IT!
Benjamin Hobbs:
First off, I'd like to thank everyone who offered an opinion last week on which format they'd like to see CIH? take.
The results were overwhelmingly in favor of Option 3. Will the format of CIH? change? I asked Dave and...he didn't address the results. So only time will tell!
WAY back on August 8th, Jeff wrote:
"Well...what about Cerebus riding Jingles? Kinda writes itself, doesn't it?"
And I thought that was a BRILLIANT suggestion. I was going to write HILARIOUS new strips about Cerebus riding on Jingles. And then I remembered something....
This strip from WATCHVARK:
So it looks like there has already been a strip where Cerebus was riding Jingles! (Or a Two-Dimensional Cut-out of Cerebus anyway.)
It looks like it's time to re-read CIH? Jeff!
Next week: Find out if this strip DID "write itself"!

Aww. Man! I been robbed!! Four damn weeks, I been waitin' fer this, gettin' tickled and teased at least once a week, sometimes twice, and *this* is what I get?!?
Geez!
Hey Jeff!
If *this* doesn't satisfy you, maybe the REAL Jingles riding Cerebus post will. Or is that Cerebus riding Jingles.... I can't recall:)
I'm SURE it will be up in a week or two.
Would I tease you about a matter THIS important?
Jeff,
"After a time, you may find that 'having' is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as 'wanting.' It is not logical, but it is often true." -Mr. Spock, Star Trek
Or:
"Haw-haw!" Nelson Muntz, the Simpsons
Matt
I love that Spock quote. Basically telling Stonn, You don't know what you've gotten yourself into; she's gonna eat you alive.
Burn!
Tony,
I have it printed out on a little card in my wallet, the other side says, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just may find you get what you need"
Matt
But is it Cerebus riding Jingles, or "Cerebus" riding Jingles here? Not to say Cerebus riding "Jingles" or even "Cerebus" riding "Jingles." (Don't get me started on whether it could be riding or Riding or "riding" or "Riding.")
Matt, "having" is GREAT! As is a nearly complete run of Cerebus; multiple CGC slabbed 9.8s; multiple signed baseballs (icluding a certified baseball signed by both Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra); a G. Brett rookie card (slabbed and graded Mint 9, one of only ten such); multiple pencil sketches (including 1-of-1s) from Dave Sim (including one of me), multiple pencilled and inked sketches by Dave Sim; multiple original pencilled drawings by Gerhard (some inked, including 1-of-1s); and a whole lotta other shit. Oh, yeah, and a rookie card of Javier Baez, numbered 1/1.
Having is nice. Wanting is fun. Not getting what you want is usually good for you, but it still sucks.
BTW, please don't rob me.
BUT. BUT. BUT.
I should amend this by by saying that I met a lovely woman last night at karaoke who has a lot, a lot, of the same life experiences as do I--jobs, training, interests--but every well-trained nerve in my body is saying, "You may want her, but you had better not have her."
In any sense of the word, like singing a song together last night at karaoke.
And, honestly, at my age, I don't need her, either. Lovely person, though.
Shouldn't the quote around here be "you can get what you want and STILL not be very happy"? ;)
Well, maybe, Travis...but the Spock quote IS from the Star Trek episode "AMOC Time"...
Yay, Tony! Metaphysical comics and metaphysical TV!! What a great intersection.
Jeff,
I wish you'd get back up on your high horse, then maybe the jokes wouldn't go over your head...
You WANTED Cerebus riding Jingles, you GOT Cerebus riding Jingles, you HAVE Cerebus riding Jingles. And now you're bitching.
So, Spock.
And Nelson. I repeat: "Haw-haw!"
Matt
Jeff riding his high horse AND Cerebus riding Jingles?
Now THAT'S a comic idea! Coming soon to AMOC!
Ben,
Jeff's high horse is named Sir Smokes-A-Lot. He looks like a normal horse, except he's blue.
Matt
Matt,
Sir Smokes-A-Lot looks like a normal horse, except he's blue, his head is perpetually in a cloud of smoke and he has REALLY tall legs.
Sir Smokes-A-Lot's blue skin is going to hard to render...in black and white.
I guess the characters are just going to have to say things like "Gee Jeff, your horse sure does look BLUE." And Jeff will reply with "You got me! I dyed his hair BLUE last night!"
Now THAT'S how you write good exposition!
Ben,
Howard Chaykin once drew a western and didn't draw any horse's. People would just point off panel and say, "look at the horse"
Matt
Didn't draw any horse's what?
Autocorrect.
Didn't draw any horse's autocorrect.
Matt
(Who do you think you are, Seiler?)
Well, a horse's autocorrect is damn hard to get right, but if anyone could pull it off, it'd be Chaykin - as long as it had leather chaps and a riding crop...
