Ya'll want a Cerebus #1?

Hi, Everybody!

AMOC's new friend Steven Swenson sent in:
First auction ended Sunday, pulling in a hefty $1323 ungraded; same seller had other early issues.

Second copy ends in a few days, a really nice looking copy!
So if you want a Cerebus #1, you got a few hours to rob a liquor store, or something...

Next Time: I'll probably post something else later today...

That 6.0 graded copy is waaaaay overpriced and even though it says you can click on the image to enlarge, you can't. And the photos have horrible resolution. I wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot pole.

The second link, Jeff, the second link...

And the other one that is described as VF- (not graded, but the seller cheerfully prompts you to "CGC IT!") is also overpriced and, once again, poor resolution photos. It looks real, but you can't see Pink Floyd very well. I'm goin' with Dave. Extremely high resolution photos or it's assumed to be counterfeit.

Jeff,

He posted the dragon.

It's real.

Sean said so.(Right Sean?)

Yeah, that second one looks real to me. When I first saw it up on eBay, I put a $50 bid on it. 'Cause you know, two number ones aren't enough. I need a hat trick of number ones. My counterfeit on doesn't count.

Sorry about eBay's re-routing the first auction, this link SHOULD work:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cerebus-the-Aardvark-1-VF-NM-9-0-ow-white-pages-Rare-Aardvark-Vanaheim-1977-/192649399783?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137

Personally I highly doubt this first copy would garner a 9.0 from CGC; too many color breaks on the spine.

Matt, are you sure we're not all just chasing the dragon?

Did a little eBay sleuthing, and the high bidder on the second #1 had been outbid on the earlier auction.

As Dave has written, there's very few high grade #1's due to bindery inexperience - and Dave himself kept the best 10.

I've been watching Cerebus auctions for over a decade and this is one of the nicest ungraded copies I've ever seen.

I won't be adding it to my collection - not for lack of trying!
