Cerebus has fingernails??

Anonymous said...

Unbeknownst to many fans, in Cerebus #00, a special, limited edition, double poly bagged, prequel prequel, chromium cover issue, the story of how Cerebus lost his fingernails is recorded. It all began when Cerebus accidentally licked a poison tortoise (story recounted in Cerebus #000a) in the middle of Sherwood Forest. Upon awaking early the very next morning, he discovered his fingernails had been surgically removed by rogue garden gnome beauticians. Cerebus, defiant as ever, decided that he would not grow them back as a symbol of his rebellion against Nature itself... and to show those evil gnomes who's boss. Hence their absence in Cerebus Vol. 1, issue 1 when the beloved aardvark arrived into the city "in the early dawn" in panel 1 page 1 in a bad mood looking for a drink (to numb the pain). The removal of his fingernails proved to be single biggest impetus behind his entire 6000-page journey.

The more you know!
