Dave misread the link. The correct link is this one here.

And speaking of the Green Dante/Green Virgil cover, the auction is still at $1277.00 US Dollars from: 高伯乐 (Gao BoLe)! If you want in on this action, just comment on this post, or e-mail momentofcerebus@gmail.com

Friend to the Blog, and the guy trying to play Sabaac at the Dabo wheel: Steve Peters has another Kickstarter going. (I have a joke in one panel.)

The remastered Volume 1 is available digitally for $9.99.

Next Time: Mommy!

@6:41 Dave's correct interpretation here certainly doesn't sound like it's coming from a guy who is "misogynistic"

Dave said that woman are inherently irrational, can't distinguish themselves from animals, and should be beaten if they disagree with you. If you say these things, you are a misogynist. QED.

Arguments to the contrary take one of two forms: 1) "Misogyny" means "fear of women", and Dave isn't afraid of women, or 2) I saw Dave be personally nice to a woman.

You fanbois are so weird.

Dame, once again, you are incorrect. "misogyny": n. Hatred of women. [Gk. miso gunia: miso-, + gunè, woman; see -GYNY.] (From the American Heritage Dictionary.)

Fear and hatred are two related, but different emotions. I'm just guessing here, but I think that you hate Dave more than you fear him.

BTW, if you're not a fanboy, then why are you here? Just being a lower appendange? Why? Some of us actually want an honest answer.

Regardless, why don't you knock it the...heck...off?

Jeff S.: Either you're missing the point or you're engaged in sheer sophistry. So which is it: Are you dumb or dishonest? Or that's not an either / or question? You, as an allegedly literate adult, should be able to see that 1) I am not defining "misogyny", I am mocking others' arguments and 2) My point remains the same even if you substitute your word for mine, because (and this is the point of my whole paragraph) 3) Real people actually make these arguments and think they're proving something.

I neither hate nor fear Dave. When I consider it, I mostly feel sorry for him. But he made his own bed, and he claims to be content there, and he's not in a position to hurt anybody but himself, so it's not really my place to intervene. And he is still capable of making me laugh out loud, sometimes deliberately.

Why would I not check out the nearest thing to an official Dave Sim / Cerebus site on the Web? Parts of Cerebus are really good, and even parts that are bad are often interestingly bad. Dave was an important figure in comics -- not really for the literary worth of Cerebus, but for his outsized advocacy, presence, and persona. Cerebus the comic is most important as the proof of what Dave was saying: that the individual creator (or creative partners) can make a living producing exactly the work they want to the best of their abilities without requiring the gatekeepers of Publishers and Editors and Assistant Editors. (I've said all this before, Jeff, and in your presence, so I suspect you ask your question in bad faith.)

Why is all that not enough for you, Jeff? Why is it not enough that you like something? Why do you decree that is it simply out of bounds to speak anything other than unalloyed praise? Why is it not enough for you until everyone agrees with you that what you like is an unprecedented work of staggering genius, and its creator the nearest thing unto a god walking this Earth? That's some serious entitlement there, Jeff.

Because for someone who doesn’t seem to actively support Dave’s attempts to keep his legacy alive, while simultaneously being the most or second most frequent poster on AMOC, there’s no shortage of trollish and fan baiting comments (happy belated birthday, btw Jeff!), trying to minimize Dave’s accomplishments. And those types of posts do seem to increase with frequency whenever it appears Dave’s gaining more publicity. Have to make sure Dave and Cerebus don’t become TOO successful, eh?

It IS a fan site devoted to Dave Sim and his work, and why wouldn't someone enthusiastically express appreciation for Dave and his work (both past and present)? Those of us who visit and contribute so frequently all agree that what Dave did (and does) is remarkable, and incredible, and that CEREBUS is an amazing accomplishment, one of the greatest achievements in the medium of comics, which has obviously left an impression, and that Dave (and Gerhard’s) work should be appreciated and honoured, remembered, and revered. And, as Jeff has shown numerous times on this very site(not sure how those have been missed), there have been no shortage of areas of disagreements between him and Dave.

Eddie K.: There is, of course, no reason at all why people may not express enthusiastic appreciation for Dave and his work. It's Jeff S. and not myself who seeks to limit the allowable expression of opinion and to ban commenters he disagrees with. Are you confusing me with Jeff? That might be one of the worst insults anyone has ever handed me!

We had "Obama Derangement Syndrome;" now "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (is there "Trudeau Derangement Syndrome" in, say, Alberta?).
Damian is the only person in the world suffering from "Seiler Derangement Syndrome." It isn't pretty.

Damian, I want to know if you or anyone else would like to do our own Mad and Cracked magazine style parody of David Johnson's parodies? Those magazines use to use movie scenes and add their own word baloons. Since it was parody, it was protected by fair usage laws, and wasn't copyright infringement. Kind of like, how David Birdsong uses public domain.

I don't want to be mean to the guy, but Damian's rebuttals here had me thinking. Tonight I sent David Birdsong and Matt Dow a test scene from Citizen Kane with Cerebus in it, and I faxed it to Dave because of his birthday and added some scriptures to it. So, picture Christian ninjas and more, but with movie scene backdrops.

If it's OK with Matt, my email's hazelponipeace@gmail.com. We could plug AMOC, CIH?, and our own stuff, and maybe they would do likewise. We could have our own kickstarter, gofundme, paetron, YouTube channel, auctions, and everything! Someone's sure to buy something, and we can split it each way. This would be a way to love one another.
