Hi, Everybody!

Thursday is the deadline for helping Larry Shell out. Guy's gonna lose his house if he comes up short. Unfortunately, Mr. Shell doesn't meet the eligibility for the Hero Initiative.

So be a pal and help Mr. Shell save his home. And let me know if you donate $10, and I'll put you in the drawing for a Matisse the Unknown Turtle piece by me.

Huh. The only reason the name "Liefeld" means anything to me is a panel or two in The Strange Death of Alex Raymond. Guess I'm not a "comics fan."

And as for the misanthropy of Clowes (and Bagge, for the most part) - well, that was a big part of the ethos of a large segment of the "alternative" comics scene of the 80s and 90s, wasn't it? It was hip to hate everyone back then. (Los Bros Hernandez were a notable exception.) Even Dave Sim was in on it - who were the sympathetic characters in Cerebus? I'm having a hard time thinking of any, with the possible exceptions of Michelle, the "real" Cirin, and maybe Theresa - all female, I hasten to point out!
