Probably in the minority here but I have enjoyed Dave’s responses so far. Thanks Jeff!

Maybe you're part of the silent majority Brian.

I think most people, let alone comics professionals would've delivered a standard critique of the movie; the acting, any basic themes, story and direction viewed through the lens of the original comics.

Dave has offered something quite different; I'm sure he could've just gone with a more typical type of review had he chosen to but instead shares a more interesting and challenging perspective.

I generally take superhero comics as Good versus evil; his observation of "evil versus evil" sounds like an accurate breakdown of the film and perhaps why the movie wasn't a success.

He's right too about the blockbuster training effect; before growing tired of pop culture going to see a giant spectacle was a part of each summer.

I think it's an easy thing to deride his explanations but it's of more worth to engage with them regardless of how much (if any) one accepts his thoughts and ideas. In my opinion.

Well, If Dave Sim is going to take the time to share his thoughts on a movie, you can bet it's not going to be a standard "review!" I'm just surprised he actually took the time to sit down, and then write about, a bleepin' superhero flick. That Sim/Seiler bromance must be really cookin'.

I was surprised when he mentioned George R.R. Martin recently.

Thank you, A Fake Name. Don’t have anything else of worth to add here, just thank you for taking the time to engage here.

Tony, as Dave has chastised me multiple times over the years, "I don't heve friends."

So, I think the whole "bromance" thing is definitely off the table.
