Eight. Eight G** D*** Faxes. Some of them Multiple pages! EIGHT!!!

Hi, Everybody!

Mondays ('Cause I don't post Wednesdays or Thursdays. I don't care if the Pope's in town, or what woods he shits in...):

More of this on Monday.
Then:
Sorry, they said Brazil, so all I can think of is this... (Seiler would understand...)
And then:
Eddie responds to Dave's thing.

Hi Dave

I think Diamond’s main benefit to AV is providing a delivery/supply line to the comic shops, especially given how expensive shipping is (especially from Canada), and seems to only be increasing. I don’t know how costly the shipping has been for AV on books offered directly through KS and CDL, but I assume it definitely wasn’t cheap.

I agree that any new orders that come in for the trades from DIA are going to be closer to the lower numbers than the higher print run numbers (CEREBUS Vol 1 and HS being the bigger sellers, and I think we have a few years before those will need to be reprinted)(CEREBUS sooner than HS). Hopefully by that point things will have stabilized more regarding the price increases and supply chain issues (it seems like almost every other month there’s an email from Marquis about price increases, supply chain issues, etc).

But for the time being, it makes sense to at least make sure DIA has SOME inventory in stock on ALL the trades (especially since FLIGHT and GUYS are almost gone from DIA’s inventory). Hopefully with THE LAST DAY order we can get DIA to do a combined PO for the 2 books AV still has in inventory (LATTER DAYS and MELMOTH) to help save on bulk shipping, since those books are below or reaching the 50 copy mark in DIA’s inventory where their system would automatically cut a PO under “normal circumstances” ( in quotes, because that almost never seems to happen, and we always seem to have to prompt DIA for it)

The next DIA solicitation deadline is next week (Aug 4) for the Oct PREVIEWS with a PO cut date of Nov 1 so the questions are:

1 Would Sean have THE LAST DAY files ready for printing and be able to do any prepress by the time the books need to be printed (I forget where Sean was with various books, but I believe he was close to if not completely done remastering all of them)

2 Would Alfonso be able to secure the paper and get the books done with that timeline

3 Is there ANY value to getting a quote from Marquis and seeing their printing schedule (which I assume is fully booked) for the kind of numbers we’re expecting

4 Any thoughts from Sean on doing digital printing for the book?

The last time DIA had THE LAST DAY in stock was the beginning of 2019. Matt reached out to Nate, who said there were only 2 printings done: signed and unsigned from 2004, so if the 2019 DIA stock was from back then, it might be a while before it needs to be reprinted for DIA’s purposes.

The original cover price for LD was $25. I was going to suggest making it $30 , to at least help offset SOME of the printing and shipping, and Matt Dow’s suggested $35. It might help if we had a quote from SCP.

For offering the book through CDL with a head sketch, I would suggest charging more for those (also adding the shipping costs, once we get a value on that from Rolly), so there’s more incentive for people to order through the shops.
