Dave Sim Remembers Frank Thorne

Hi, Everybody!

A Moment of Cerebus is saddened to learn that Frank Thorne has passed away.

I called Dave as soon as I learned about it. Here's his thoughts:

Here's that cover.

Dave also faxed all his Frank Thorne stuff from the Archive:

DMCA Takedown Notice

Dear Matt Dow's AMOC TeePublic Shop,

We're sorry to inform you that an intellectual property claim has been filed by The Walt Disney Company (on behalf of Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC) against this design of yours on TeePublic:

Dave Sim's Baby Yoda Cerebus
The Varkdalorian: the Bay-be! Look at the Bay-be! Isn't he cooooote?!?

How This Works
Unfortunately, we have no say in which designs stay or go. According to our Intellectual Property Policy and the law, we are required to remove designs when a rightsholder sends us a valid takedown request. For more information, you can check out this article or read the DMCA in full here.

A Note From Us
We know takedowns can be frustrating and at times feel vague, but I hope you can appreciate that we have to comply with the procedures required by the DMCA and similar laws. If you truly believe this was a mistake or want to file a counterclaim, please don't hesitate to reply to this e-mail.
Sincerely,
TeePublic
What does this mean for the comic? Nothing yet, but who knows? WHO KNOWS?!?

They also haven't come for the OTHER Baby Yoda Cerebus merch. OH CRAP THEY JUST DID!!! What will they take away next?!? My Birthday?!?!?!?!?!

Crap! Better up my order of the comic!!!!!!! (You should too!!!)

And order a copy of Sword of Cerebus in Hell? Volume 2 as well.

What I read was that she passed away about three hours after he did. No causes of death yet determined. I think, but am not sure, that they both died at home.

Sorry Matt, we've been here before... [Toronto, early 90s:] Last time I saw the boss he was sitting in his office, surrounded by big guys in suits (from his bank, he said; I imagine one of them would have been his lawyer); was a screen printing operation, they printed *tons* (literally) of unlicensed Nike, etc.; I was one of several designers (who'd already been laid off, by that point); a tad shady... what, no leg-breakers? (some of them were big enough)

Edit: Come to think of it, given Dave's beliefs, *God* will decide (or has decided already) whether or not the 'Cerebus estate' will be there for future generations. So why the trepidation, etc.?
(Yes, I'm thinking of that video from a while back re how much it will cost, year upon year, to keep the 'House of Cerebus' afloat...)

NB I offered to help with that (as some people will recall) and got shit on for getting involved; they're not making many friends... Good luck, Dave - God is with you! (see if that lazy fu*k will show up with a crowbar...) xD
