Iguana's Back! (And so is Dave with New Mutants commentary!)

Mondays (blame Liz...)

Catch up on what the hell Dave's talking about.
The "My wife's gonna kill me" was based on a misunderstanding of the situation. I said I could do it, thinking this was S.O.P. from now on. Not for just two issues.

Going to need to put on the chest wader's to get through the lake of White Tears that Dave just shed.

I guess he decided that since no one believes or cares that he is a self declared pariah other than the hardcore sycophants (you know who you are), that it was time to switch tack and glom onto the burgeoning 'Oh woe is me I'm a White male' pity party. OWIMIAWMPP.

The word's David are "Lack of Opportunity". That is what Black and other minority artists faced and still face.

So, if some folks have the audacity to complain that what little representation that they see of themselves might actually be produced and or created by someone who is actually of the same race and or gender, well I guess that is a just a bridge too far for the likes of you. That does not mean any fever dream induced imaginings of white creators being jailed for producing characters of another race are real. It just means that for a very long time mere lip service has been provided instead of actually providing an equal opportunity.

There was a lot of terrible art in comic books in the 70's, 80's and 90's(I am not familiar with today's work so I will not comment) and the overwhelming majority of it was produced by white male artists.

So why didn't publishers reach out to young and struggling Black and other minority artists and give them an opportunity?

Why didn't you? Or maybe you did and I just did not realize it. Did you?
Regardless, that does not make them or you racist. It just means that neither of you even bothered to think about it. Or, if you did it was just, lip service.

Opportunity begets opportunity.
And even though you and Deni and Ger created and published, you did not print or distribute or sell. And, those avenues were also closed or severely restricted to Black and other minority artists and creatives. NO one does it all alone.

Cry your phony tears, and feel that oppressive weight that you must carry around. Oh the struggle.

Erick, it might help to advance your (specious) argument against Dave if you were to use proper grammar and punctuation.

As to why Dave didn't hire Black people to work with/for him is that he didn't need to. He had girlfriends doing the administrative work (until he didn't have them) and he stumbled onto the (THE) best environmental (background) artist, ever.

Plus, try finding a supremely talented (better than Ger) Black background artist in Kitchener, Ontario.

Okay? Okay!

Erick: I believe, but can't verify, that Dave was joking. He's talking about Cerebus in Hell? And Sandeep, so I assume any "Anti-Wokeness"/"Adopted-Oversensitivity" are part of the joke.

That being said, as a White, Heterosexual, Forty-one year old, Male, I (and I can ONLY speak for myself), freely admit that I don't get it. Meaning, that I, as a White, Heterosexual, Forty-one year old, Male, can IMAGINE the struggles/trials/tribulations of NON White, Hetero, yadda yadda yadda people's (and I certainly try to emphasize with them when they enunciate their struggles/trials/tribulations), I have no real frame of reference with which to compare.

I don't know who/how many non-white, non-heterosexual, non-male creators Dave spotlighted in Cerebus (and the Day Prize Award he did after Cerebus ended), but I know it's more than one.

Also, Jeff, you posted as "anonymous" again...

Funniest line this time: "I think this was, again, Chris Claremont talking about me." Of course it's all about you, Dave! It always is, isn't it?

Encore: still waiting for the minders to green light the house assessment
If Dave's involved with them, which apparently he is, by now he might regret associating with the (self-described) "incompetent" religious wingnuts, hence self-defeating his own goal
And if a person has held only two jobs in their lifetime, how would they know the difference? (again, religious people like that kind of thing: 'sheep are easily preyed upon' ('God's preferred metaphor')

and uh, close that bracket on the end:) [I know everyone's a stickler for punctuation, in these parts...]

Negros are just gross. God was right to condemn them.

Actually I'm pretty sure it's a ham (tee hee) fisted attempt at satirizing Dave's views. Inaccurate and cowardly - an all too common combination.

Oh, and Damian - I'm pretty sure you were there, and in the mid to late '80s you'll recall that Dave Sim was a very big deal (or "very big deal" or Very Big Deal or "Very Big Deal" or...) in comics, and LOTS of people were talking about him.

Ya know, the more I learn about religion, the happier I am that I ditched the whole thing...
And now an #encore of my previous PSA:
Hey kids!
Do the world a favour
Cancel religion!

Uh, Brian, we may have a small 'god problem' to deal with before we can play together again... #justsayin or is that a Noah problem...? Er, Dave is a Noah supporter too? All three monotheistic religions, yes?
